Steps:

  • Bring the water to a boil in a sauce pan; remove from heat and set aside.
  • Whisk together the flour, salt, cream of tartar, and soft drink mix in a large bowl; stir the vegetable oil into the flour mixture using a spoon, not a whisk. Pour the hot water into the bowl and continue stirring. When the dough is cool enough to handle, turn it onto a lightly-floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 minutes. Store unused portions in refrigerator.

CANDY PLAYDOUGH (EDIBLE)

I haven't tried this one yet but found it and thought it looked yummy. I get a bit tired of seeing all the peanut butter ones. Hope it's good! UPDATE I just made this. Yuck. It's not one for tasting , but might be okay as a non-toxic playdough. It's okay if you eat it , but taste pretty bad. Idk, maybe your kids will like it though!

  • Add 8 tablespoons of the cornstarch and stir until a thick dough forms. Carefully remove it from the bowl to the counter — the dough may still be warm, so use caution. Knead by hand, adding more cornstarch a teaspoon at the time if needed (up to 6 more teaspoons), until no longer sticky but still pliable. Store in an airtight container until ready to use.
