  • Shake all ingredients together with ice and strain into a Hurricane glass filled with ice. Garnish with fresh tropical fruit.

1 oz. dark rum
1 oz. light rum
1/2-oz. Galliano
3/4-oz. Fresh Lime Juice
1 oz. passion fruit syrup
1-1/2 oz. orange juice
1-1/2 oz. pineapple juice
dash of Angostura Bitters
fresh tropical fruit for garnish
ice

Steps:

  • In a pint-size glass, stir the Vermouth, gin or vodka, and ice cubes 50 times. Strain mixture into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with olive, lemon twist, or a tomolive.

1 dash dry French vermouth
3 ounces gin or vodka, chilled
Ice cubes
Green cocktail olive, lemon-peel twist, or tomolive, for garnish

PIMM'S ITALIANO

This cocktail is a refreshing, slightly bitter spin on the Pimm's Cup, thanks to the addition of Cynar, a vegetal Italian liqueur.

Steps:

  • Muddle the cucumber wheel and Cynar in the bottom of a highball glass. Add ice cubes, Pimm's, and tonic water. Stir gently, then add the cucumber spear and the lemon wedge.

½ oz. Cynar
1½ oz. Pimm's No. 1
4 oz. tonic water, such as Fever-Tree
Garnish: long English cucumber spear and lemon wedge

Steps:

  • In a large, sturdy glass, using a muddler or the back of a wooden spoon, muddle together the simple syrup and lime, to extract the oils from the skin of the lime. Add Cachaca, and fill the glass with ice. Shake vigorously, and pour contents into an old-fashioned glass.

3/4 to 1 ounce Dale DeGroff's Simple Syrup
1/2 lime, halved lengthwise and crosswise
2 ounces Cachaca
Large ice cubes
