Steps:
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a loaf pan (9"X3"). With an electric mixer, cream butter, sugar and eggs until fluffy. Add the flour one half cup at a time along with a little cream and keep on mixing until you have incorporated all of the flour. Now add the vanilla. Mix. Pour into your prepared loaf pan. Bake for 50 minutes or until the cake has risen, has a golden crust and when you check it with a toothpick, the pick comes out clean. If you have moist batter stuck to the toothpick you need to bake it a bit longer. Add 5 minutes and check again.
- Let the cake cool standing upright in the pan for 15 minutes. Then turn the pan on its side and gently tip it to coax the cake out. Then stand the cake back upright and let it cool completely.

From a Maxwell House pamphlet. Can't wait to try this cake this holiday season and give away as gifts. I'm thinking of trying egg substitute in place of all the eggs to help a bit with the healthiness of this recipe.

- Position an oven rack in the middle of the oven. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Prepare your Bundt pan with homemade magic pan release spread or your favorite pan spray and dust lightly with flour, tapping to knock any excess flour out of the pan. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, and salt.
- Using a stand mixer or sturdy hand mixer, cream the butter and sugar at medium speed. Add the vanilla extract and increase the speed to high, beating for 5 minutes if using a stand mixer or 8 minutes if using a hand mixer. The increased mixing time will help to incorporate air into the mix, lightening the texture of the cake. The mixture should be pale yellow and fluffy when finished.
- Add the eggs one or two at a time, beating on medium speed after each addition to fully incorporate. Scrape down the sides of the bowl before adding approximately half of the dry ingredients. Mix on low speed just until the flour has been incorporated. Add the heavy cream and mix on low speed until well mixed. - Grease and flour a tube (I recommend this one.)or bundt pan. The cake is too large for a regular bundt pan. You need a 10-15 cup bundt pan like this which is larger than a standard bundt. If you don't have a tube pan or large bundt pan, you can make cupcakes with the extra batter. Don't fill the pan closer than 2 inches from the top or it may overflow. You can grease and flour, use non-stick spray, or I absolutely love this cake release product from Wilton! You may need to line the sides of the tube pan with waxed paper so that is above the top of the pan 2 to 3 inches as shown in the photo. This is a very tall cake.
