Steps:

  • Blend 5 cups of any chopped fruit (we used strawberries, cantaloupe, pineapple, honeydew, watermelon and mango) with 3 cups water, 1/2 cup sugar and 2 tablespoons lime juice. Add more sugar and/or lime juice to taste and serve over ice.

Steps:

  • In a blender, combine fruit, sugar, lime juice, and 1 cup water. Puree until smooth. Pour through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher, using a rubber spatula or wooden spoon to help push liquid through sieve.
  • Discard fruit pulp, add 1 more cup water to pitcher, stir to combine, and chill in refrigerator until ready to serve.

4 cups chopped fresh fruit (such as watermelon, pineapple, or mango)

Steps:

  • This and other similar fruit drinks, which translate literally as "fresh water," are served all over Mexico and they're a cinch to replicate at home. The key is to strain the pulpy fruit to make a clearer liquid. Instead of melon, you could use strawberries, pineapple, or mango -- any fruit that is soft enough to puree.
  • Puree cantaloupe and pour through a fine sieve to eliminate pulp. In a pitcher, mix strained fruit puree with water and season with sugar and lime juice, to taste.

1 large cantaloupe or half a watermelon, seeded and diced (about 3 cups)
1 1/2 cups water
2 to 4 tablespoons sugar
2 to 3 limes, juiced

Very refreshing drink, very easy to make. It works just as well with Cantaloupe or Honey Dew melons. I've made this recipe with many different types of melon with great results. The grocery store I use has a yearly melon sale in the summer. You can try and buy several types of melons that you normally couldn't get in this area of Wisconsin. The Santa Claus melon has a very mild flavor and light color. I like to use my LaLane juicer.

Steps:

  • Peel, seed, and coarsely chop melon.
  • Place 2 cups melon in a blender, add enough water to cover melon, and blend well. Strain, reserving liquid.
  • Place liquid in a 2-qt pitcher and discard solids.
  • Repeat procedure with remaining cantaloupe.
  • Add lime juice and sugar to pitcher and stir well. Serve over ice.
