APPLE KUCHEN
These bars should be made by patient bakers with a bit of time - they look best when the apples are lined up in neat columns. This is not to say that it makes any difference in the way they taste.

These apple squares are a good change from apple pie since they are glazed and a little bit sweeter. The dough is firm enough that you can eat them with your hands and are best when apples are in season. -Diane Turner, Brunswick, Ohio

Pulse again until butter is the size of peas. Add one tablespoon of ice water at a time, pulsing after each addition until moist crumbs form.
