- Layer and pack ingredients in canning jars in the order listed. Yes, some ingredients are repeated. That's where the layering comes in...think edible sand sculptures. If there is any space left at the top after adding the last ingredient, include more baking chips. Attach the following instructions to the jar: Chocolate Lover's Cookies 1 jar Chocolate Lover's Cookie Mix ? cup butter or margarine (1 stick), melted 1 large egg 1 tsp. vanilla Empty contents of the jar into a medium mixing bowl. Stir in the melted butter, egg and vanilla. Stir until well blended. Refrigerate batter for about 15-20 minutes. Shape into 1-inch balls. Place on baking sheets coated with cooking spray (or lined with parchment paper). Bake at 350 for 8 to 10 minutes or until cookies are golden brown.

- Mix the salt and baking soda with the flour, then layer the ingredients into a 1 quart, wide mouth jar. Use scissors to cut a 9 inch-diameter circle from calico. Place over lid, and secure with rubber band. Tie on a raffia or ribbon bow to cover rubber band.
- Enclose a card with the following mixing and baking directions: Chocolate Chip Cookies 1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). 2. In a large bowl, cream 1 cup of unsalted butter or margarine until light and fluffy. Beat in 1 egg and 1 teaspoon of vanilla. Mix in cookie mix. Drop teaspoonfuls of dough, spaced well apart, onto a greased cookie sheet. 3. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in preheated oven, or until lightly browned. Cool on wire racks.

- 1. In 1-quart wide-mouth glass jar, gently layer and pack ingredients in the order listed (yes, there are two layers of biscuit and baking mix). If there is any space left after adding the last ingredient, add more baking chips or nuts to fill the jar. Place lid on top.
- 2. Instructions to place on gift card attached to jar: Chocolate Lover's Cookies Empty contents of jar into medium bowl. Stir in 1 stick butter or margarine, melted, 1 large egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until well combined. Shape into 1-inch balls. Place on baking sheets coated with cooking spray.
