- Preheat a panini press according to manufacturer's instructions.
- Sprinkle the chopped chocolate onto one slice of the ciabatta, then place the other slice on top.
- Cook the panini in the preheated press until the ciabatta is golden brown and the chocolate has melted, 3 to 4 minutes.

- Spray closed medium-size contact grill with cooking spray; heat for 5 minutes. Spread 1 tablespoon hazelnut spread over 1 side of each bread slice. Sprinkle 6 slices evenly with hazelnuts. Top each with second bread slice, making 6 sandwiches.
- In shallow bowl or pie plate, beat half-and-half, eggs and vanilla until well blended.
- Dip 3 of the sandwiches into egg mixture, turning to coat both sides. When grill is heated, place sandwiches on grill. Close grill; cook 2 to 3 minutes or until golden. Repeat with remaining sandwiches. Sprinkle with powdered sugar, if desired.

- Brush butter on one side of the slices of bread. On a work surface, put 4 slices of bread, buttered-side down, and sprinkle with chocolate up to 1/4 inch from the crust. Cover with remaining slices of bread, buttered-side up.
- In a large striped pan or non-stick skillet, cook sandwiches at medium-low heat, 2 at the same time, 6 to 8 minutes or until chocolate has melted and the bread is golden (press them with a spatula and flip at mid-cooking). Cook remaining sandwiches the same way.
- Cut sandwiches in 2 and sprinkle with icing sugar. Serve warm.
