Steps:

  • in a mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk.
  • add potatoes, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup oil, salt vanilla, baking powder, baking soda and eggs. mix well.
  • add enough flour to form a soft dough.
  • place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top.
  • cover and let rise in a warm place about one hour til doubled.
  • punch dough down and roll out into a floured surface to about 1/2 inch thickness.
  • cut with 3 inch donut cutter.
  • let rise another 45 minutes.
  • combine cinnamon and remaning sugar.
  • heat oil and fry til golden brown on each side.
  • sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.

1/2 teaspoon baking powder
2 eggs
5 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
4 cups oil

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir in 1 tablespoon sugar; let stand 5 minutes. Add the milk, shortening, eggs, salt, 3 cups flour and remaining sugar. Beat on medium speed 2 minutes. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough (mixture will be sticky). Do not knead. Cover and refrigerate overnight., Punch dough down. Turn onto a lightly floured surface; divide into 24 portions. Divide each portion into three pieces; shape each into a ball. Place three balls in each greased muffin cup. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1-3/4 hours. , Preheat oven to 350°. Bake 13-15 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from pans to wire racks. Serve warm.

  • In a large bowl, combine the baking mix, sugar and yeast. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in enough warm water to form a soft and slightly sticky dough. Turn onto a floured surface; knead gently 3-4 times. , Roll dough to 3/4-in. thickness; cut with a 2-1/2-in. round biscuit cutter. Place on ungreased baking sheets. Brush tops with melted butter. Bake at 400° until lightly browned, 10-12 minutes.
