THE BEST GARLIC BREAD

We went very classic with this garlic bread recipe-lots of butter and lots of garlic loaded onto warm, soft and pillowy French bread. You could make a light meal by rounding it out with a crisp green salad. Or serve it our favorite way-alongside your favorite red-sauce pasta.

Steps:

  • Arrange a rack in the center of oven and preheat to 450 degrees F.
  • Melt the butter in a small skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook, stirring occasionally, until the butter is golden and the garlic is very fragrant, about 3 minutes.
  • Slice the bread in half lengthwise. Liberally brush the crust with the garlic butter. Turn the bread cut-side up. Slice each loaf crosswise at 2-inch intervals without cutting all the way through, making "pull-apart" garlic bread. Liberally brush the cut sides of the bread with more garlic butter, spreading any remaining garlic evenly over top. You should use all the garlic butter. Carefully transfer the bread to a rimmed baking sheet.
  • Sprinkle the loaves with the Parmesan and a pinch of salt and bake until the edges of the bread are a deep golden brown, 10 to 15 minutes. Top with the parsley. Serve warm.

1 1/2 sticks (12 tablespoons) unsalted butter
4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 large soft Italian or French loaf
1/4 cup grated Parmesan
Kosher salt
2 tablespoons flat-leaf parsley leaves, finely chopped

STUFFED GARLIC BREAD

This is my favorite way to make garlic bread. It doesn't take any extra time and it looks really impressive on the table. This recipe is for garlic bread, but use it as a jumping off point to fill with any combination of cheese, onion... anything that you like! I have made one stuffed with provolone, asiago and pepperoni slices...

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2. Slice round loaf 3/4 of the way through being careful not to cut all of the way through, vertically and horizontally, forming 1" squares.
  • 3. Add olive oil or butter to a small pan and saute garlic for 1-2 minutes, just to soften.
  • 4. Brush onto loaf being sure to get in into all of the cracks.

  • 6. Sprinkle with a pinch of coarse salt, garlic powder and parsley.

3 clove garlic, finely chopped
1 1/2 c mozzarella, provolone or italian blend cheese
1/2 c parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp garlic powder
freshly chopped or dried parsley
pinch salt

IN-A-PINCH GARLIC BREAD

I had returned to New York from California this New Year to an empty kitchen and a snowstorm. Unable to get any groceries immediately, I had to make do with what I had on hand. I found some hero rolls that I had purchased just before I left on my trip, and decided to make garlic bread, even though I had no butter or fresh garlic. The result was actually really tasty!

PAN FRIED, ON THE GRILL OR IN THE OVEN _ GARLIC BREAD !

You can make this on the grill, in a skillet, or on a baking pan in the oven. We make it all three ways... and it is so good! By grilling it... you get a bit of the smokey flavor... By doing it in the oven... you get some darn good garlic bread... By doing it in a skillet... you get a little more control over the color,...

Pan Fried, On The Grill Or In The Oven _ Garlic Bread ! image

Steps:

  • 1. Slice the bread into 1/2 inch to 1 inch thick slices (I cut the slices on a slight angle).
  • 2. Melt the butter in a small sauce pan with olive oil.
  • 3. Either dip both sides of bread quickly in the butter mixture, or brush the mixture on both sides of the bread.
  • 4. Place the buttered bread into a medium - hot skillet. Sprinkle lightly with garlic powder (Never use garlic salt) (if you want a little salt, sprinkle a little on... but not needed). When the bread is browned a bit, flip it over and sprinkle the browned side with garlic powder. Flip over again for a few seconds and remove from heat.
  • 5. *** When making this for the oven, only butter one side of the bread and only sprinkle one side. *** You can add shredded parmesan and mozzarella cheeses to any version of this... but oven version is best for cheese.
  • 6. This bread is great with this dip! https://www.justapinch.com/recipe/colleen-sowa/cannellini-hummus-dip-for-grilled-breads/quick-easy-healthy-crackers

BREAD
1 large loaf french or italian bread (cut on a slight angle in 1/2 to 1 - inch slices)

Pull-Apart Garlic Bread image

Steps:

  • 1. In a mixing bowl, combine all the ingredients; stir until well blended. Scoop mixture onto the center of some wax paper and gather the sides to compact the butter. Fold one side over and form a log, tightening it up. Roll it up to the other side and twist the ends tight. To prevent from opening, fold ends under. Chill until it hardens, about 2 hours.
  • 2. In the bowl of a stand mixer, add yeast, lukewarm milk and honey. Let it sit for 15 minutes or until foamy.
  • 3. Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, add 2 cups flour (reserve ¾ cup on the side), garlic powder and salt; whisk until well combined and set aside.
  • 4. Add unsalted butter, egg and ¼ cup Parmesan cheese to yeast. Using a dough hook, mix the ingredients well. Add flour mixture and process on low speed for 3 minutes. Add 1 tbsp. reserved flour at a time to the bowl, mixing well after each addition, until the dough clings around the hook and pulls away from the sides. Increase speed to 4 and knead for 4 minutes.
  • 5. With oily hands, form dough into a ball by pulling under and transfer to a lightly greased bowl with olive oil. Cover loosely with a clean dish towel and let rise in a warm, draft-free spot (in the oven with temperature off) until doubled in size, about 1 ½ hours.
  • 6. When rising time is up, punch dough and transfer to a lightly floured work surface. Sprinkle flour on dough and form a ball by pulling under. Using a bench scrapper, cut dough ball in half (sprinkle more flour if needed) and cut each half in half. Form ball with each piece. Cut each ball in half and each of them in half again, pulling under and forming a ball - in total, 32 balls is needed for this recipe.
  • 7. Preheat oven to 375ºF and place a small ramekin dish upside down in the center of a lightly greased 12"x1" deep dish pizza pan; set aside.
  • 8. Working with one ball at a time, flatten it out to about 2 ½-inches around and place a piece of mozzarella in the center followed with a small piece of hard garlic butter. Gather the edges together making sure the stuffing mixture is well covered and tightly pinch it closed. Transfer to the prepared pizza pan, leaving a small space in between. Cover and let it proof for 30 minutes.
  • 9. In a small bowl, combine egg and milk; beat well and set aside.
  • 10. Brush egg wash on dough balls after rising time is up. Transfer to preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, melt garlic butter. Remove from the heat and brush on a generous amount of melted butter and evenly sprinkle on the remaining ¼ cup of Parmesan cheese. Return to oven and bake for 3 minutes or until cheese is somewhat melted.
