MISSISSIPPI SIN

A great meal idea for a party or picnic. I suggest using HALF the cream cheese so that it doesn't taste so cream cheesy. The wider the loaf of bread, the better!

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  • Cut the top off the bread loaf, keeping in one piece, and reserve for later use. Hollow out the loaf to form an area for the filling. Chop the removed bread for dipping.
  • Mix Cheddar cheese, ham, sour cream, cream cheese, green onions, green chile peppers, and jalapeno peppers in a bowl; spoon into the hollowed bread loaf. Return the top to the bread and wrap loaf with 2 pieces aluminum foil.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until filling is cooked through and bubbling, about 1 hour 20 minutes.

Steps:

  • Cut 'lid' in top of bread (cut it much like a jack-o-lantern); pull out bread in middle of loaf, creating a large bread 'bowl' with a 'lid'. Reserve the chunks of bread that were pulled from the interior for later use.
  • In large mixing bowl, combine all other ingredients, mix well and pour into bread 'bowl'.
  • Cover 'bowl' with 'lid', wrap completely in aluminum foil and bake one hour at 350 degrees.
  • Allow to cool slightly before removing foil and serving with reserved chunks of Hawaiian bread.

HOT OR COLD MISSISSIPPI SIN DIP

I have found a few variations of Mississippi Sin Dips, but this is the one I get the most requests for. It is equally good cold or hot, and is one of the first goodies to disappear at gatherings! For really yummy variations, replace the ham with fresh Northwest salad shrimp, Dungeness crab, or crisp fried, crumbled bacon...
