This is a recipe that has been in my husbands family for generations. It is sure to be a family favorite.

Steps:

  • Preheat a waffle iron.
  • Beat together eggs and sugar with an electric mixer until fluffy. Pour in shortening, milk, salt, and vanilla; mix until well blended. Sift together the flour and baking powder. Mix the flour into the liquid.
  • Spoon 2/3 cup of batter onto the preheated waffle iron at a time. Close the iron and cook until steam no is no longer coming out and waffle is browned.

  • Beat the egg whites with an electric mixer, set aside. beat egg yolks and stir in the milk. beat in flour, baking powder, vanilla sugar, and sugar. add the melted butter.
  • when all combined, fold in the beaten egg whites.
  • serve with strawberry jam and sliced munster cheese or norwegian brown cheese.
