PRIZE ITALIAN FROSTING
I found this recipe among my grandmas old recipes. this frosting is very versatile. May be used as a cream puff filling, topping for gelatin or desserts, as cake filling, and for frosting of course.

Steps:
- Mix flour and milk to a smooth paste in small sauce pan.
- cook over low heat until very thick, stirring constantly.
- Remove from heat and set aside to cool.
- Put sugar and fats into bowl (2 quart size) and beat at highest speed for 10 minute (This is very important- it must be beaten until so smooth that sugar us hardly noticed).
- When milk and flour paste is cold, beat into sugar mixture until it looks like whipped cream.
- Beat in flavoring.
- Tastes like whipped cream or ice cream.
- Will keep for several weeks in the rer.
- if covered loosely with waxed paper.

I use 3 large eggs or 2 extra large eggs, although recipe uses 2 large eggs. There is also no vanilla extract where I live just essence so I dont add any, to keep it white... no noticeable difference in taste..

Steps:
- Place sugar, cream of tartar, salt, water, and egg whites in the top of a double boiler. Beat with a handheld electric mixer for 1 minute.
- Place pan over boiling water, being sure that boiling water does not touch the bottom of the top pan. (If this happens, it could cause your frosting to become grainy). Beat constantly on high speed with electric mixer for 7 minutes.
- Beat in vanilla. Don't let it stand too long, use immediately.

- Bagna Cauda. A typical Piedmontese dish, bagna cauda (translated from the dialect: hot sauce) is a preparation based on extra virgin olive oil, anchovies, and garlic, all reduced to a sauce after long cooking.
