SAUSAGE AND CHEESE BREAKFAST BITES

I had a box of buttermilk biscuit mix and didn't want just plain biscuits. So after looking through the odds and ends in my "fridge",I came up with this recipe. If desired brush tops of "bites" with melted margarine or butter. My son who is known on here by "Cylopsmaster" came up with the name for this recipe.Submitted to "ZAAR" on June 26th,2008.

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, cayenne and black pepper. Add the shredded cheese and toss to evenly coat with the flour mixture. Add the sausage, onion and melted butter, and mix until a cohesive mass forms. Using your hands, break off pieces of the mixture and roll into 1-inch balls (I used a small cookie scoop). Place on the prepared baking sheet about ½-inch apart.
  • Bake until the sausage is cooked through, about 25 to 30 minutes. Using tongs, transfer the warm sausage bites to a serving platter, insert toothpicks, and serve warm. These are best served as soon as they are baked, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat before serving.

SAUSAGE CHEESE BITES SNACK - REVIEW BY M.J.A. - ALLRECIPES.COM
These are really tasty and a great on-the-go breakfast but I made them with only 2 cups of bisquick and they still came out too doughy. Next time I make them, it will be even less bisquick and more cheese. The sausage flavor is very light so you might want to add some seasoning. I also reccomend you turn them over once during cooking to brown both sides. …

SAUSAGE CHEESE BITES SNACK - REVIEW BY HOCKEYMOM089
These were just ok, kinda tasted like a McDonalds sausage and cheese biscuit, but it really didn't look like it. Only one of the3 kids ate a whole one (he actually ate 5, I said, "boy, yo umust really like them" his reply 'I'm just hungry". I had A LOT left over. I know I won't make this again, it tasted pretty good, but if the kids won't eat them, it's not worth it.
