SPINACH DIP MOZZARELLA STICKS RECIPE BY TASTY

Spinach Dip Mozzarella Sticks Recipe by Tasty image

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, combine the cream cheese, spinach, mozzarella, salt, pepper, and garlic powder, stirring until thoroughly mixed.
  • Transfer the mixture to a square baking pan lined with parchment paper and spread the mixture evenly in the dish.
  • Freeze for 30 minutes.
  • Invert the frozen spinach dip onto a cutting board and remove the parchment paper.
  • Slice the block into 1-centimeter strips, then slice the strips in half into sticks.
  • Place the flour, eggs, and breadcrumbs into three separate bowls. Dip the spinach dip sticks into the flour, then the eggs, then the breadcrumbs, then back into the eggs, and finally back into the breadcrumbs. Set the breaded sticks aside on a plate.
  • Heat oil in a pot over medium-high heat. Fry the breaded sticks for about 30 seconds to a minute, until golden brown.
  • Cool, then serve with marinara sauce!

Steps:

  • Cut the mozzarella into 'chips'. Tip the flour into a bowl and season well. Whisk the eggs in a second bowl and tip the breadcrumbs, paprika and oregano into a third. Coat the mozzarella sticks in the flour, then the egg, then the breadcrumbs. Transfer to a parchment-lined tray and freeze for at least 2 hrs.
  • Heat enough oil to come 2-3cm up the side of a saucepan. When hot, drop in a test chip - it should sizzle straight away and brown within a minute or two. The secret is to cook them long enough to crisp up the outside without letting the mozzarella ooze out - it may take you a few practice chips to get it right. Cook the chips in batches and drain on kitchen paper. Serve hot with your favourite dip.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  • Place prepared crust on pizza pan.
  • Spread spinach dip over entire crust.
  • Sprinkle with water chestnuts if the spinach dip does not already contain them.
  • If you can't find a good spinach dip in your local grocery deli there are many fine recipes here on Zaar.
  • Sprinkle with Mozzarella cheese.
  • Bake 10- 12 minutes until cheese and dip are bubbly and slightly browned.
  • Cool a few minutes before cutting.
  • Cut into wedges for lunch or dinner or cut into squares to use as an appetizer.

1 prepared 12-inch pizza crust (Boboli)
1 lb deli spinach dip, with lots of spinach
1 -1 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese

  • Place flour in a shallow bowl. In another shallow bowl, beat eggs and water. In a third shallow bowl, combine the bread crumbs, Italian seasoning, garlic powder and pepper. Coat cheese sticks with flour, then dip in egg mixture and coat with bread crumb mixture. Repeat egg and bread crumb coatings. Cover and freeze for at least 2 hours or overnight. , Place on a parchment lined baking sheet; spray with cooking spray. Bake, uncovered, at 400° for 6-8 minutes or until heated through. We did add an extra 1/4 a cup of chopped canned water chestnut’s to add a little more texture to the sticks.
