SWISS ALMOND FLORET BAKE

If you love cauliflower and broccoli with cheese you can't go wrong with the recipe. This is one of the dishes I prepared for Christmas Dinner in 2010. It was so delicious that my sister & I just wanted to eat it and nothing else. I didn't alter this recipe and made it exactly as it stated. I hope you enjoy. I found this on...

Swiss Almond Floret Bake image

Steps:

  • 1. In a large saucepan, bring water to a boil. Add cauliflower and broccoli; return to a boil. Cover and cook for 3 minutes. Drain and pat dry.
  • 2. In another large saucepan, melt butter. Stir in flour until smooth; gradually add milk. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Reduce heat; stir in the cheese, jam, curry, salt and pepper. Cook and stir over low heat until cheese is melted. Remove from the heat.
  • 3. Place the cauliflower and broccoli in a greased 1-1/2 qt. baking dish. Top with cheese sauce. Combine topping ingredients; sprinkle over sauce. Bake uncovered, at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until vegetables are tender.
  • 4. 4-20-2014 --- We had this yummy recipe for our Easter Sunday dinner...easy to make and so delicious too.

2 1/2 c fresh cauliflower florets
2 1/2 c chopped fresh broccoli
2 Tbsp butter
3 Tbsp all purpose flour
1 1/2 c milk
1/2 c shredded swiss cheese
2 Tbsp apricot jam
1/2 tsp curry powder or coriander
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
TOPPING
1/2 c dry italian breadcrumbs
1/3 c sliced almonds, toasted
2 Tbsp butter, melted

These delicate almond pastries make lovely light-as-air accompaniments for coffee, tea or cocoa. Your guests will never guess the recipe calls for packaged frozen dough. Sweet Almond Twists image

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400°. Unfold puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface; roll each sheet into a 15x10-in. rectangle., In a small bowl, whisk egg and water; brush over rectangles. Spread pastry filling over one rectangle to within 1/4 in. of edges; sprinkle with almonds. Top with remaining pastry, egg wash side down, pressing lightly., Brush top with egg wash. Cut in half lengthwise; cut each rectangle crosswise into 16 strips. Twist each strip 2-3 times. Place 1 in. apart on baking sheets. Bake until golden brown, 12-14 minutes. Serve warm.

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine the first 5 ingredients. Beat on low speed until well combined, 2-3 minutes. Press onto the bottom and up the sides of a greased 9-in. pie plate. Bake at 400° for 8-10 minutes or until golden. Cool on a wire rack., For filling, combine sugar and eggs in a small saucepan until well blended. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until mixture coats the back of a metal spoon and reaches 160°. Remove from the heat. Stir in chocolate and almond extract until smooth. Cool to lukewarm (90°), stirring occasionally., In a large bowl, cream butter until light and fluffy. Add cooled egg mixture; beat on high speed for 5 minutes. Pour into cooled pie shell. Refrigerate for at least 6 hours before serving. Garnish with whipped cream and almonds if desired. Refrigerate leftovers.

  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a small saucepan, bring syrup to a boil; cook 3-5 minutes or until liquid is reduced by half., In a small bowl, mix sugar and cornstarch; whisk in water until smooth.   • Preheat oven to 375°. In a large bowl, cream butter and confectioners' sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in milk and vanilla. Gradually beat in flour., Cut almond paste into 12 slices (about 1/4 in. thick); cut each into quarters. Shape into balls. Wrap tablespoons of cookie dough around almond paste to cover completely.
