Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 F. To prepare the crust, mix the first 5 ingredients in a medium bowl; cut in the softened butter until crumbly. Press dough firmly and evenly against the bottom and sides of an ungreased 10-inch fluted tart pan. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until crust is golden brown. Set aside. To prepare the filling, cut Asian pears in half and core, then cut each half into 6 wedges. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat; add pears and sauto for 20-25 minutes, or until nearly tender. Add brown sugar and cinnamon; saute for another 5 minutes or so, until pears are tender. Place sauteed pears in a pinwheel pattern on the crust, and pour remaining sauce from the pan over them. Sprinkle with toasted pecans. Serve with ice cream. Makes 8 servings.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425°. Beat butter, sugar and cinnamon until crumbly. Beat in flour and walnuts. Press onto bottom and up sides of a 9-in. fluted tart pan with a removable bottom coated with cooking spray., For filling, beat cream cheese and 1/4 cup sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla. Spread into crust. Arrange pears over top. Mix cinnamon and remaining sugar; sprinkle over pears., Bake 10 minutes. Reduce oven setting to 350°; bake until filling is set, 15-20 minutes. Cool 1 hour on a wire rack. Refrigerate at least 2 hours before serving.

Add the water to the mixture and continue to mix just until the dough comes together. Scrape the dough onto a piece of plastic wrap and flatten into a round disc. Cover tightly and refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight.
  • Line a baking sheet pan with parchment paper and place six 3-inch tart pans or rings on the pan. Remove the dough from the refrigerator and roll into a 1/8-inch (3 mm) thickness. Cut out six circles to fit the tart pans or rings. Allow the dough to fall into place into your pan so that there are no gaps in the corner of the pan or where the tart ring meets the sheet pan. Refrigerate the dough uncovered for at least 1 hour.
  • Preheat oven to 325°F/163°C with the rack positioned in the middle of the oven. Remove the tart shells from the refrigerator. Using a fork, perforate the bottom of each shell. Line your tart shells with parchment paper and pie weights, dried beans, or rice.
