Steps:
- Prepare the berries: Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Grease a 12-inch cast-iron skillet with butter and set aside. In a mixing bowl, combine the berries, granulated sugar, flour, lemon zest and balsamic vinegar. Pour into the pan and smooth into an even layer.
- Make the topping: In another mixing bowl, mix both sugars, the flour, oats, cinnamon and salt. Cut in the butter until you have a coarse crumb and the flour is fully hydrated. Sprinkle this mixture evenly and loosely over the top of the berries. Bake, uncovered, until golden brown, crisp and bubbling, 35 to 40 minutes. Remove from the oven and let sit at least 10 minutes before serving.

BERRY-APPLE SKILLET CRUMBLE
Steps:
- Peel the apples and cut into fairly thin (about 1/4-inch) slices
- Heat the margarine in a medium skillet. Add the apples. Sauté, stirring frequently, until they have softened but still hold their shape, about 4 minutes.
- Add the berries, maple syrup to taste, and cinnamon, and cook until the berries have started to burst and the apples are just tender, 3 to 4 minutes longer.
- In a small container, combine the cornstarch with just enough cold water to dissolve smoothly. Stir it into the skillet. Cook briefly, just until the liquid in the skillet is thickened, then remove from the heat.
- Heat a smaller skillet. Add the muesli and sugar and toast over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the mixture turns a shade darker and smells nutty, 4 to 5 minutes. Sprinkle evenly over the surface of the fruit.
- Allow the crumble to cool in the pan for a few minutes, then serve in small bowls. If desired, top each serving with a dollop of frozen dessert.

THE ULTIMATE BERRY CRUMBLE
I don't tack the word ultimate onto just any recipe. This berry well may be my favorite summer dessert, with the perfect balance of sweet and tart, tender and crisp, fruit and crumble. Some ice cream on the side is highly recommended.

Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- Combine flour, salt, baking powder, and sugar in a bowl. Whisk until thoroughly combined. Grate in the frozen butter, stopping occasionally to toss the butter into the flour mixture until coated. Drizzle in vanilla extract; add egg yolks. Stir with a fork until egg is mostly absorbed. Add vinegar; mix briefly. Use your hands to finish mixing, squeezing until clumps but mixture remains mostly dry. Add 1 teaspoon vinegar if needed.
- Combine blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries in another bowl. Add lemon zest, lemon juice, sugar, and cornstarch. Sprinkle in cayenne pepper. Mix until sugar and cornstarch are mostly dissolved.
- Place about 1/2 of the crumble mixture into the bottom of a 2-quart baking dish. Press mixture down using a flat cup until well compacted. Spread the berries over the crust. Sprinkle the remaining crumble mixture on top, squeezing some of it into clumps.
- Bake in the preheated oven until top is beautifully browned and berry syrup bubbles on the surface, 40 to 45 minutes. Let cool to room temperature, about 30 minutes.

EASY APPLE-BLUEBERRY CRISP
This is a variation off the Orchard Mills Apple Crisp package. I had about a cup of frozen blueberries left after making Recipe #288137, so I thought I would give this a try for quick Saturday night dessert. Also, I purchased too many Granny Smith apples a little bit ago and had to find a way to use them up. Put a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side for something extra special! :)
