Caramel Apple Streusel Squares image

Steps:

  • HEAT oven to 350 degrees F. Combine flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, baking soda, salt and nutmeg in large bowl. Cut in butter with pastry blender or two knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Reserve 1 3/4 cups crumb mixture; press remaining crumb mixture onto bottom of an ungreased 13 x 9-inch baking pan. Bake 15 minutes.
  • ARRANGE apples over partially baked crust. Mix sweetened condensed milk and 1/2 cup caramel topping until blended. Pour evenly over apples. Add walnuts to reserved crumb mixture; sprinkle over apple layer.
  • BAKE 45 to 50 minutes or until apples are tender. Cool in pan on wire rack. Serve warm topped with vanilla ice cream and remaining caramel topping.

This recipe is so good and easy. I keep on misplacing my recipe card so I thought I should post while I know where it is. I think everyone who likes caramel will love them.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • In a large bowl combine flour, brown sugar and egg.
  • Cut in 1/2 cup butter.
  • Stir in nuts.
  • Reserve 2 cups of crumb mixture.
  • Press remaining mixtuew firmly in bottom of greased 9 x 13" pan, I use Pam baking spray.
  • Bake for 15 minutes. Remove from oven.
  • In a heavy saucepan over low heat, melt caramels, condensed milk and 1/4 cup remaining butter.
  • Cook until smooth.
  • Pour over crust.
  • Sprinkle evenlly with remaining crumbs.
  • Bake for 20 minutes or until bubbly.
  • Cool. Cut into bars.
  • Store loosely covered at room temperature.

I could not get Zaar to accept Pillsbury Crescent Recipe Creations refrigerated flaky dough sheet - these are newer in the refrigerated dough section. This recipe is from Pillsbury. A nice, easy and quick recipe for those times you need a dessert in under a hour. We had them plain but would also be nice with ice cream or whipped topping on top.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Spray 13 x 9 inch (3 quart) glass baking dish with cooking spray.
  • Unroll dough; press in bottom and 1/2 inch up sides of pan.
  • Sprinkle apples over dough.
  • In 1 quart saucepan, heat caramel topping and 1/4 cup flour to boiling over medium heat, stirring constantly.
  • Boil 1 minute, stirring constantly, until thickened.
  • Drizzle over apples.
  • In medium bowl, mix brown sugar, flour, oats and cinnamon.
  • With pastry blender, cut in butter, until mixture looks like fine crumbs.
  • Sprinkle evenly over apples.
  • Sprinkle pecans evenly over top.
  • Bake 18 to 22 minutes or until top is golden brown and apples are tender.

  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and cocoa.
  • Cut in the margarine until crumbly (mixture will be dry).
  • Reserving 2 cups crumb mixture, press remainder in bottom of 13x9 inch baking pan.

The best caramel bars ever!! I got this recipe from my husband's Grandma Emma years ago and I had forgotten I even had it. Myself and other family members have been trying to come up with a recipe that would come close to Grandma's and as much as we tried, could never quite match up to her recipe. As I was looking through my recipe card box recently I discovered the recipe, hand written by Grandma Emma. My daughters and I had to make them when they were home visiting this summer and they are the best!!

Steps:

  • Pre heat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Mix the 1st 6 ingredients together in mixer until crumbly -- Grandma says mix like pie crust.
  • Pat all but approximately 1 1/2 cups of batter into a 9 X 13 cake pan.
  • Bake for 10 minutes.
  • While this is baking, melt the caramels with the 3/4 cup whipping cream. A double boiler is recommended, but you could use the microwave if you stop and stir often to make sure the caramels do not burn.
  • Spread caramel mix over the 1st layer when it has baked.
  • Use the remaining 1 1/2 cups of batter and pat down in small sections over the caramel mix.
  • Return to oven and bake for about 15 minutes or longer -- til they are done.
  • Remove from oven and cool.
  • Enjoy!
  • *Pointer-Can use Caramel bites that are now available in the baking aisle at the grocery store rather than having to unwrap all the caramels. Also, Grandma says that 1/2 and 1/2 could be used rather than cream if you would like.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt together the caramels and heavy cream, stirring occasionally until smooth.
  • In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda and salt. Stir in the melted butter until well blended. Press Half of the mixture into the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking pan. Reserve the rest.
  • Bake the crust for 8 minutes in the preheated oven. Remove and sprinkle with chocolate chips and walnuts. Pour the caramel mixture over the top and then crumble the remaining crust mixture over everything.
