CHEESE SPREAD DICE

You'll shake up your buffet table in an appetizing way with this delectable cracker spread. The novel cube of seasoned cream cheese is easily spotted with ripe olives.

Cheese Spread Dice image

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, beat two packages of cream cheese, shredded cheese, onion, Worcestershire sauce and parsley until blended. Press into a plastic wrap-line 8x4-in. loaf pan. Cover and refrigerate overnight. , Remove cream cheese mixture from pan; cut in half widthwise. Stack one on top of the other on a serving plate. In a small bowl, beat milk and remaining cream cheese until smooth. Spread over cube. Cut olives in half; arrange on top and sides of dice. Serve with crackers.

Steps:

  • In a bowl add butter, sour cream, and cream cheese. Add the garlic and herbs and mix together well. Season, to taste, with salt and pepper. Place in refrigerator and allow to chill.

4 tablespoons butter, at room temperature
4 tablespoons sour cream
16 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tablespoon basil, chopped
2 tablespoon chives, chopped
1 to 2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley leaves
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

This is as close as one can get to the famous restaurant 'bar scheez; spread my mother loved, Win Schuler's®. It became a staple in our house. The horseradish gives the spread that interesting bite. You'll have people begging you for the recipe and you won't be able to stop eating it! You can start with less horseradish and increase to your taste. Serve with crackers, pita or bagel chips, or pretzels. Even great with celery sticks! Store leftovers in refrigerator in airtight container.

Steps:

  • In a mixing bowl, combine two packages of the cream cheese, shredded cheese, onion, Worcestershire, basil, garlic powder, and Tabasco.
  • Line a 8-inch by 4-inch by 2-inch loaf pan with plastic wrap.
  • Press cream cheese mixture into pan; cover and refrigerate overnight.
  • Remove chilled cheese mixture from pan; cut in half width-wise and stack one on top of the other on a serving plate to make a cube.
  • In a mixing bowl, beat milk and remaining cream cheese until smooth and spread over cube.
  • Cut olives in half and arrange on top and sides to decorate the cubes like dice.
  • Serve with crackers.

  • If you really enjoy horseradish, just add more to taste.
  • If you like your spread sharp, just cut down on the cream cheese and visa versa, if you would like it mild, just add more cream cheese.
  • Serve at room temperature with your choice of crackers or crusty bread.
