I have good memories of eating this all-in-one meal often while growing up. We all loved the flavor and seldom had leftovers. Instead of sprinkling it with cheddar, I sometimes create a cheese sauce using American cheese and milk. It makes it so cheesy! -Andrea Brandt, Newton, Kansas

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink; drain. Stir in the water, poultry seasoning and pepper. Bring to a boil. Stir in gravy mix. Cook and stir until slightly thickened, about 2 minutes., Arrange the onion, carrot and potatoes over beef. Reduce heat; cover and simmer until vegetables are tender, 10-15 minutes. Sprinkle with cheese. Cover and cook until cheese is melted, 3-5 minutes longer.

Steps:

  • Mix the ground beef, salt and pepper in a large bowl and form the mixture into 8 equal-size balls. Press a cube of desired cheese into the center of each ball and cover completely with meat. Form the balls into hamburger patties, about 1/4-inch thick. Grill burgers until desired doneness. Top with lettuce, tomatoes, onions and pickles as desired on a toasted bun.
  • Place the drained pimientos in a blender or food processor and puree until smooth. Using an electric mixer, combine the pimientos and cheese, beating until smooth. Beat in the mayonnaise.

  • Prepare a grill for medium-high heat. Brush the grill with olive oil.
  • Put the sirloin, Cheddar, salt, pepper and hot sauce in a bowl and mix. Form into four 8-ounce patties. Grill the patties for 3 to 4 minutes, then flip and grill until cooked to desired doneness, another 3 to 4 minutes.
  • Meantime, grill the whole jalapenos for a few minutes until blackened. Grill the burger buns until lightly toasted.
