Steps:

  • Cook noodles according to package directions. Meanwhile, in a large skillet, cook the beef, onion, celery and garlic over medium heat until meat is no longer pink and vegetables are tender; drain. Add the tomatoes, chili powder, salt and pepper. Cook and stir for 2 minutes or until heated through., Drain noodles; stir into beef mixture and heat through. Remove from the heat. Sprinkle with cheese; cover and let stand for 5 minutes or until cheese is melted.

Steps:

  • Slice the steaks into thin strips and place into a small bowl.
  • Add the cornflour, 5 spice, salt, and pepper. Mix until evenly coated.
  • Carefully heat the oil in a deep saucepan until it reaches 190°C (375°F).
  • Carefully place the beef strips into the oil and fry for about 4-5 minutes, until golden brown.
  • Place on some tissue to soak up the excess oil and set a aside.
  • Meanwhile, prepare the sauce by adding a tablespoon of oil to a frying pan. Frying the chilies, spring onion, and ginger over a medium heat for a few minutes. Add garlic paste and fry for another minute.
  • Stir in the soy sauce, sweet chili sauce, red wine vinegar, and tomato ketchup until thick.
  • Stir in the beef steaks until evenly coated.
  • Garnish with spring onion and red chilies.

No Bean Beef Chili image

Steps:

  • Put a large heavy-bottomed skillet over medium-high heat and add the oil. Working in batches, add the beef to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and cook until it is well browned, 10 to 15 minutes.
  • To the slow cooker sleeve, add the onions, jalapenos, 1 tablespoon chile powder, cinnamon, red pepper flakes, garlic, and strained tomatoes (reserve the juice). Add the seared beef to the slow cooker. Pour the reserved tomato juice into the skillet, scrape up any browned bits, and pour into the slow cooker. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 4 to 6 hours.

Steps:

  • Put 350g thin-cut minute steak strips in a bowl and toss in 3 tbsp cornflour and 2 tsp Chinese five-spice powder.
  • Heat 100ml vegetable oil in a wok or large frying pan until hot, then add the beef and fry until golden and crisp.
  • Scoop out the beef and drain on kitchen paper. Pour away all but 1 tbsp oil.
  • Add 1 thinly sliced red pepper, ½ thinly sliced red chilli, sliced white ends of 4 spring onions, 2 crushed garlic cloves and thumb-sized piece ginger, cut into matchsticks, to the pan. Stir-fry for 3 mins to soften, but don't let the garlic and ginger burn.
  • Mix the 4 tbsp rice wine vinegar or white wine vinegar, 1 tbsp soy sauce, 2 tbsp sweet chilli sauce and 2 tbsp tomato ketchup in a jug with 2 tbsp water, then pour over the veg.
  • Bubble for 2 mins, then add the beef back to the pan and toss well to coat.
  • Serve the beef on noodles with prawn crackers, if you like, scattered with the remaining ½ sliced red chilli and sliced green parts of the spring onions.

Chili With Noodles image

Steps:

  • Brown ground beef with onion and garlic, then drain off excess fat.
  • While browning, pour tomato sauce and water into large pot.
  • Stir in chili powder, red pepper, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil.
  • Add browned ground beef mixture. Cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes.
  • Add beans and noodles. Cook for additional 3-4 minutes, then turn off heat.

  • Place the stock, ginger, chilli and spring onions in a large saucepan and bring to the boil. Meanwhile, heat a griddle pan until very hot and brush the steak with the oil. Griddle the steak for 2 mins each side for medium-rare. Transfer to a chopping board and leave to rest for 1 min, then thinly slice.

  • Cook the noodles in a large pan of boiling water as per the cooking instructions (usually 3-4 minutes). Drain, run under cold water to stop the cooking process, then place in a bowl and toss with the sesame oil to prevent the noodles from sticking together. Put to one side.
  • Place the steak strips in a bowl and add the cornflour, salt and pepper. Toss together until the beef strips are completely coated.
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or large frying pan over a high heat. When the oil is hot, tip the beef in and fry until dark brown and crispy. Using a slotted spoon, remove the beef from the pan and place in a bowl lined with kitchen roll to soak up excess fat.
  • Turn the heat down to medium and add the ginger, garlic, broccoli and red peppers to the pan. Stir fry for 2-3 minutes until lightly cooked, but still crisp. Remove from the pan with a slotted spoon.
