CURRIED CHEESE PATE

This is THE most fabulous party appetizer. I had this at an after holiday party and it was by far the most requested recipe (my Recipe #163601 was the second!) Be sure to make ahead because it should chill at least 4 hours.

Curried Cheese Pate image

Steps:

  • Blend pate ingredients together until combined.
  • Line an 8" cake pan with plastic wrap and fill pan with cheese mixture. Cover with plastic wrap and chill 4 hours.
  • NOTE: Can be frozen at this point. Defrost at room temperature before proceeding.
  • Unmold pate on a large platter. Pour chutney over, then sprinkle with peanuts, onions, and coconut.
  • Serve with crackers. ENJOY!

Curried Macaroni and Cheese image

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • In a large pot, melt the butter with the oil over medium heat. Add in the red onion, garlic, and green chile and saute until tender, approximately 2 minutes. Sprinkle over the curry powder and all of the flour, stirring to create a roux. Whisk to remove the lumps, and cook the flour for approximately 1 minute.
  • Slowly pour in the milk while whisking to create a curried creamy sauce over low heat.
  • Bring the sauce to a simmer, and continue whisking for 2 minutes. Remove the pot from the heat, discard the green chile, and add 2 cups grated Provolone, and stir until smooth.
  • Add the cooked macaroni to the curry sauce, mix until evenly coated, and season with salt. Transfer the macaroni mixture to a 9 by 9-inch baking dish. Sprinkle the top with 1/4 cup bread crumbs and 1/4 cup cheese.
  • Arrange the asparagus in a line over the macaroni. Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup bread crumbs and cheese over the asparagus, and bake for 30 to 40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease an 8x8 inch baking dish.
  • In a food processor, blend sunflower seeds, whole wheat flour, nutritional yeast, salt, vegetable oil, lemon juice, potato, carrot, onion, celery, garlic, water, thyme, basil, sage, savory, pepper and dry mustard. Process the mixture until almost smooth.
  • Transfer mixture to the baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven 1 hour, or until bubbly and lightly browned.

What a combination of flavors! From a recipe card set, this appetizer disappears quickly whenever I make it. Passive time is 1 hour chill time.

Chutney Glazed Cheese Pâté image

Steps:

  • Blend cream cheese with the shredded cheese until well mixed. Do this by hand or in a food processor using a plastic blade.
  • Mix in the sherry, curry powder and salt until well blended.
  • Shape into a cake, about 5 inches in diameter, onto serving plate. Cover and chill at least 1 hour or as long as overnight.
  • Before serving, pile mango chutney and green onions on top. Surround with crisp sesame or whole wheat crackers. Guests can either dip into the cheese or spread it with a knife.

  • Place the cream cheese, cheddar cheese and curry powder in a small food processor; cover and pulse until blended. , Spread onto a 10-in. round serving platter. Spoon chutney over top; sprinkle with coconut, pecans, green onions and dried currants. Chill until serving. Serve with crackers.
