BELLY FAT BLASTING SMOOTHIE (DR. OZ)

Not only healthy, its absolutely delicious! In fact, I kick start my day with a glass every morning to get my protein, fruit & fibre very quickly. My preference is cranberry juice & frozen blueberries with no ice. All other ingredients are available in large markets, drugstores & health food stores. My only deviation from Dr. Oz's recipe: (1) I don't add 600 mg of fish oil by breaking open supplement capsules (2) the addition of 1/2 cup plain fat free yogurt wasn't in the original recipe.

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients in a blender in order given.
  • Whip until frothy.

1 cup juice
1/2 bananas or 3/4 cup berries
2 tablespoons whey powder
2 tablespoons ground flax seeds
1 tablespoon psyllium husks (ground)
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 tablespoon wheat germ
fish oil, 600 mg (optional)
1/2 cup plain fat-free yogurt (optional, any flavour)
3 ice cubes (optional)

  • Grapefruit Cleanser. 3 yellow grapefruits, peeled, cored and pips removed. ½ ins ginger peeled. 1 tsp ground cinnamon. 1 tsp vanilla extract. ¾ cup filtered water (more if needed)
  • Chocolate Treat (not too often though!) 2 cups non dairy milk. 2 heaped tsp organic cocoa powder/raw cacao. ½ tsp ground cinnamon. ½ tsp vanilla extract. 2 tbsp agave nectar.
  • Anti Oxidant Power House. 1 banana. ½ cup raspberries. ½ cup strawberries. 1 tbsp goji berries. ½ cup coconut water. 1 cup unsweetened almond milk. 1 x tbsp coconut oil.
  • Wide Awake Smoothie. This smoothie is a delicious, easy and healthy way to start your day. Makes plenty so you can save as a ‘snack’ for later in the day if you get a little peckish.
  • Creamy Green Smoothie. 1 small avocado, peeled. Juice of 1 lime (or lemon if you prefer) 1 cucumber, peeled. Coconut milk, or unsweetened non dairy milk of choice.
  • Fruit Salad Smoothie. There’s no base of green in this smoothie, so defies the general rule of green ingredients being more than 50% of the content. However adding a green super-food can help create that balance.
  • Simple Green Smoothie. It doesn’t have to be complicated! This is one of my favourite smoothies, so quick and easy to do. 1 cup water. chopped spinach or kale.
  • Brain Booster. 1 cup Spinach. ¼ avocado. ½ cup mixed berries (I buy frozen as can be so expensive fresh!) 1 x clementine, peeled. 5 x walnuts. 1 ½ cups unsweetened hemp milk.
  • Symptom Soother. The main ingredient of this smoothie is turmeric, a powerful phytoestrogen, anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory herb. Helping restore balance and harmony throughout the body.
  • Bone Builder. ¼ cup Swiss chard. ¼ cup kale. ½ apple. ½ pear. ½ cup blueberries (fresh or frozen) ¼ cup goji berries. 10 x cashews. 2 x tbsp. cacao. 1 ½ cups water. 1 x tbsp coconut oil.
