PIZZA WITHOUT THE RED SAUCE

I do not like red sauce but pizza is one of my favorite foods. So I came up with this good alternative to traditional red sauce pizza. It still has a light tomato taste.

Pizza Without the Red Sauce image

Steps:

  • Preheat oven according to pizza crust package directions.
  • In a small bowl combine butter, olive oil, garlic, pesto, basil, oregano and Parmesan cheese. Spread mixture evenly on pizza crust.
  • Arrange tomato, spinach, onion and jalapeno on pizza. Top with crumbled feta cheese.
  • Bake according to pizza crust package directions.

Great for vegetable pizza, meat pizza, or pasta. Brush your favorite pizza dough with olive oil, spread sauce, add your favorite toppings, and bake per dough instructions. Also great for calzones or chicken, or chicken and broccoli with fettucine. Makes enough sauce for 2 medium pizzas. Freezes beautifully. Just thaw at room temperature.

Steps:

  • Heat butter and olive oil in a small saucepan over medium heat; cook and stir onion and garlic until tender and fragrant, about 1 minute. Add flour and whisk until flour is lightly browned and onion is translucent, 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Mix milk, Parmesan cheese, basil, oregano, salt, and black pepper into onion mixture. Cook, whisking continuously, until cheese is melted and sauce has thickened slightly, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat.

EASY RED AND WHITE PIZZA SAUCE WITH A KICK

There was a little pizza place in a town I used to live in that offered red sauce, white sauce or a combo. The combo was excellent. This is my version. The color ends up like the color of thousand island dressing but don't let that scare you, try it, it's yummy and different. Adjust amounts based on the size of pizza you will be making. 1 cup pizza sauce (your favorite from a jar or can)
1 cup alfredo sauce (again, your favorite from a jar, bottle, mix, or you very own)
2 tablespoons ranch salad dressing

Easy Homemade Pizza Sauce image

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients in a saucepan.
  • (Use Tabasco sauce and red pepper flakes if you want more zip to your sauce!) Bring to a boil.
  • Simmer gently for 20-30 minutes.
  • Simmering improves the flavour, but if you're in a hurry you can skip that step.
  • Just use a bit less water and mix well.
  • Use in your favourite pizza recipe.
