FUDGY BUTTONS
Not all of Grandma's recipes are time-consuming--her fast fudge proves it! She stirred up a batch for us grandkids every time we visited. Now, I'm carrying on the tasty tradition for my family whenever we want a quick chocolate treat with a peanut butter twist.

- In a small saucepan, melt the butter; remove from the heat. Add cocoa and mix well. Stir in sugar. Add milk and stir until smooth. Add peanut butter and mix well. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper; flatten tops and shape into 1-in. patties. Refrigerate until serving.

FUDGY TOFFEE BARS
Sweet treats always go over well in my family, especially during the holidays. We think these rich bars-dotted with walnuts, toffee bits, chocolate chips and coconut-are better than candy! They're nice to share with a group since one pan goes a long way.

- In a bowl, combine the flour, sugar and cocoa. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press firmly into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking pan. Bake at 350° for 10 minutes. , Meanwhile, in a saucepan, heat milk and 1 cup chocolate chips over medium heat until chocolate is melted, stirring until smooth. Remove from the heat. Stir in vanilla. , Pour filling over crust. Sprinkle with the walnuts, coconut, toffee bits and remaining chocolate chips; press down firmly. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until set. Cool on a wire rack. Cut into bars.

- In a large bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar and salt. Add butter and mix until crumbly. Stir in pecans. Set aside 1-1/2 cups for topping. Press remaining crumb mixture into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking pan., In a large saucepan, combine the milk, chocolate chips and shortening. Cook and stir over low heat until chips are melted; stir until smooth. , Spread over crust; sprinkle with the reserved crumb mixture. Top with M&M's. Bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes or until edges are golden brown.

These cookies were in the Fall 2006 edition of Cooking for 2. They are super quick and crunchy on the outside with a cake-like center. They are credited to Jill Duncan of Schriever, LA. The recipe calls for sugar; however, half sugar and half Splenda works very well

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a small mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar.
- Beat in the milk and vanilla.
- In another bowl, combine the flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture, mixing well.
- Stir in the almonds; cover and refrigerate for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Form the dough into 12 to 16 balls.
- Place on cookie sheet that has been lined with parchment paper and bake in preheated oven for 13 to 18 minutes or until set and tops are cracked.
- Cool for a couple of minutes before removing to a wire rack.

- Combine walnuts, flaxseeds, coconut, and oats in the bowl of a food processor. Process until uniformly combined.
- Add dates, raisins, cocoa powder, agave, cinnamon, and salt. Mix until all ingredients are blended and hold together when squeezed (you may need to add a bit more agave).
- Remove mixture from food processor and stir in chips.
- Measure out mixture using a candy scoop (like a small ice cream scoop) or a tablespoon. Mold/roll mixture into a ball.
- Roll candy in cocoa powder or a mixture of cocoa powder and powdered sugar (some people find straight cocoa powder to bitter).
