GRANDMA'S OLD FASHIONED OATMEAL
This isn't my Grandmother's recipe. I have had it over 10 years and don't remember where I got the recipe. I am guessing at the time it takes to make this.

Steps:
- Bring the 2 1/2 cups water to a boil.
- Then add the salt.
- While stirring constantly, gradually add the oatmeal.
- Continue to stir the oatmeal and add the sugar and cinnamon.
- Cook 1 minute and add the evaporated milk.
- After adding the evaporated milk reheat to boiling.
- Pour oatmeal in a serving dish and top with the butter and brown sugar.
GRANDMA'S HAMBURGER HOT DISH
My grandma made this recipe using the old stand-by hamburger and cream soups. We always ate it up!

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Butter a casserole dish. Arrange noodles in prepared dish.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir beef, onion, and celery in the hot skillet until beef is browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes; drain and discard grease. Stir cream of mushroom soup, cream of chicken soup, mushrooms, and milk into beef mixture until evenly combined; pour over noodles into prepared dish. Cover dish with aluminum foil.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. Remove foil and sprinkle cashews over mixture; continue baking until bubbling, about 30 minutes more.

Steps:
- In a small bowl, combine the boiling water, butter, salt and sugar. Stir in oats; cool to lukewarm. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir in the molasses, brown sugar and 1 cup flour. Beat until smooth. Stir in oat mixture and enough remaining flour to make a stiff dough. , Turn out onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1-1/2 hours. , Punch dough down. Turn onto a lightly floured surface; divide in half. Shape each portion into a ball. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes; Shape into loaves. Place in 2 greased 9x5-in. loaf pans. Cover and let rise until nearly doubled, about 1 hour. , Bake at 375° for 30-35 minutes (cover loosely with foil if top browns too quickly). Remove from pans to wire racks to cool.

- Preheat oven to 375 degrees
- In large mixing bowl add the sugar, eggs and shortening. Blend together.
- Slowly add the flour, salt and baking soda and mix well.
- Add the water, vanilla and chocolate chips and mix.
- Add oatmeal and mix until all ingredients are blended together.
- Using a spoon, drop dough onto cookie sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until cookies appear a golden brown. Repeat until all dough is used.
- The size of the spoon will determine the size of the cookie.

- 1. Place the oats, eggs, cheese, sesame seeds, onion, tamari, garlic, and sage in a large bowl and mix well. 2. Heat the oil in a large skillet. Using a spoon, divide the oatmeal mixture into fourths and carefully drop into the skillet. Cook over medium heat for 4 minutes, or until browned on the bottom. Flip and continue to cook until the other side is browned. (Note that the patties will not stick together until they begin to cook, so they cannot be shaped into burgers beforehand.) 3. While the burgers cook, combine the sauce ingredients in a small bowl. Mix well to remove any floury lumps. 4. Arrange the mushrooms on the burgers, then top with the sauce. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes. 5. Serve with ears of fresh corn-on-the-cob, ripe tomatoes, and steamed green beans for a delicious American-style meal.

- Preheat oven to 350°. In a small saucepan, combine dates, water and sugar. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, until thickened and dates are tender, stirring constantly, 7-9 minutes.
