BANANA SMOOTHIE
A delicious low-fat smoothie, sweetened naturally with honey, with extra nutrition from wheat germ and sunflower seeds, and extra flavour from cinnamon. A great morning-pick-me-up! I often take some to work in a Tupperware container with a firm lid, and enjoy it as a mid-morning snack.

Steps:
- Blend or process the ingredients until smooth.
- Note: Use frozen bananas - or add ice cubes to the blender - for a thicker smoothie. I'm reluctant to add ice cubes to my blender, and if the smoothie is not all being drunk at the time you make it, I'd advise against the ice blocks, because naturally they'll just make what's drunk later more watery! Add any other fruit, as takes your fancy!
BANANA SMOOTHIE I
My father taught me how to make this recipe when I was a little girl. It is very easy to make. This recipe contains raw eggs. We recommend that pregnant women, young children, the elderly and the infirm do not consume raw eggs.

THICK COFFEE BANANA SMOOTHIE
There are a few little preparation quirks that distinguish a good smoothie from a great one - at least in my book. For one, I like to par-freeze the fruit I'm using - not rock solid, mind you - because it helps thicken the drink; room temperature fruit only thins it. Ditto for the liquid I use, in this case coffee - usually left over from the pot I've made that morning. As prepared here, this smoothie has a mild coffee flavor, but if you want a stronger coffee kick then go ahead and use some double strength brewed coffee that has been well chilled.

Steps:
- Twenty to thirty minutes before you plan to mix your smoothie, put the coffee in a shallow pan and place it in the freezer, stirring once or twice after 15 minutes.
- It should become slushy-icy.
- Thinly slice the banana onto a plate and put that in the freezer as well, to chill.
- While you're waiting, chill the glasses you plan to use.
- When you're ready to proceed, combine the chilled coffee, banana, and sugar to taste in a blender.
- Blend just until smooth.
- Add the yogurt and any of the remaining ingredients you wish to use.
- Blend again, briefly, just until smooth. Taste, adding a little more sugar if needed. Transfer to the chilled glasses and serve.
BANANA SMOOTHIE
Posted in response to a recipe request. This is a modified recipe from one I found in Cooking Light. The original called for a couple of tablespoons of graham cracker crumbs & some Cool Whip, and was called Banana Cream Pie...but I prefer it the way I've typed it. It's also a great way to get some more calcium into your diet.

Steps:
- Place all ingredients in a blender and process until smooth.
- Note: To freeze bananas, slice and place on baking sheet. Freeze for a minimum of one hour. Store extra banana slices in a plastic bag in the freezer for quicker preparation later.
- Variation: Add about a 1/4 cup of chocolate chips to the blender after all other ingredients have been well blended, and blend until finely chopped.
