Mayonnaise Pie Crust image

Steps:

  • 1. The mayonnaise makes a tender, flaky crust that seems to hold cream fillings well without becoming soggy. This recipe is easy to make, and the prepared crust freezes well. Pie Crust 2 c. sifted all-purpose flour 1/4 t. salt 1/2 c. mayonnaise 1/4 c. water Mix flour and salt. Stir in mayonnaise with fork until the consistency of coarse salt. Sprinkle with cold water and stir until a ball forms. Roll out on lightly floured surface until 1-inch larger than the pie pan. Place in pan and mold to bottom and sides. Flute edges. Prick with fork at irregular intervals. Bake in 450-degree oven about 10 minutes. Makes 2 pie crusts.

Grandma's Very Easy Pie Crust image

Steps:

  • Sift flour and salt into a bowl. Pour vegetable oil into a 1-cup measure and fill the measure with milk up to the 7-ounce mark. Whisk oil and milk together and pour immediately into the bowl with flour. Mix the crust together with a fork just until it holds together. Do not knead.
  • Divide crust in half, form into balls, and roll each half out between sheets of waxed paper. Peel waxed paper from crusts to fit into pie plate.

  • MIX flour, sugar, salt and baking powder together in a large bowl. Add mayonnaise and mix with a fork until it resembles coarse sand. Add water a tablespoon at a time and mix with hands until a dough ball forms. Form dough into a disk, wrap in plastic and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  • REMOVE chilled dough from refrigerator and let sit on counter 5 to 10 minutes or until pliable. Divide dough in half and roll 1 half out into a circle on a lightly floured surface until it’s an inch larger around than the pie pan. Line pan with dough and fold excess dough beneath itself; crimp edges. Prick with a fork and chill the pan with dough in refrigerator for at least 20 minutes before using.
