OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE-STYLE STEAK

This is a recipe I got off Recipe Goldmine. Delicious and easy rub for steaks! UPDATE: Due to the numerous comments, I've updated the salt measurement. Enjoy! :)

Steps:

  • Mix together seasoning ingredients and rub into each side of steak.
  • Grill steaks on a large frying pan over medium-high heat; press down on steak with spatula or tongs to sear the edges.

4 pieces top sirloin steaks or 4 pieces rib eye steaks
4 -6 teaspoons salt (depending on taste)
4 teaspoons paprika
2 teaspoons ground black pepper
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon coriander
1/2 teaspoon turmeric

Outback Steakhouse Toowoomba Pasta Copycat Recipe image

Steps:

  • Cook fettuccine as directed. Melt butter in a large skillet. Add cream, ketchup and spices. Whisk together and bring to a boil. Continue to simmer and reduce while you continue with the rest of the recipe, stirring occasionally with a wire whisk. (most of the cream will boil away, leaving you with a dark orange sauce).
  • In a separate small skillet, sauté mushrooms in olive oil until soft. Add mushrooms to simmering sauce.
  • Cook shrimp (and crawfish if available) and green onion in the small skillet in olive oil just until pink and add to sauce. Simmer for about 5 minutes.
  • Toss with cooked fettuccine and serve immediately lightly topped with finely shredded fresh parmesan cheese.

16 ounces fettuccine pasta
1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cups heavy cream
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
3/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon coriander
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 cups quartered baby portabella mushrooms (slice instead if they have the circumference of a golf ball or wider)
Olive oil
1 lb raw shrimp (tails off and de-veined, substitute 1/2 for crawfish if available)
1/2 cup chopped green onion (about 2-3)
Shredded fresh parmesan cheese

Outback Steakhouse Aussie Fries Copycat image

Steps:

  • Divide the fries into half, and use the other half later. Heat oil to 350 degrees. If you do not have a thermostat, make sure the oil is hot enough, so that when you set a French fry in there it will cook immediately. If the french fry sinks to the bottom, and barely bubbles, it is not hot enough. Fry the potatoes in small batches, they are done when they are golden brown, and float to the top of the skillet. I like to use a Dutch Oven). Be sure to drain the potatoes on paper towels. You can keep them warm in the oven while the other fries are done.
  • When all French fries are done cooking, and drained place them onto a platter. Salt the french fries if you like, and sprinkle on cheese and cooked bacon. Pop these back into a warm oven until the cheese begins to melt.
  • Directions for dipping sauce:.
  • Combine all ingredients and mix well.

1 (2 lb) bag frozen french fries
1 cup colby-monterey jack cheese, shredded
6 pieces bacon, cooked
24 fluid ounces peanut oil (Can be reused later, store in refrigerator)
1/2 cup sour cream
1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
1 dash cayenne pepper
1 dash salt
1 dash black pepper
