  • Cut beef into bite-sized strips, about the size of a small domino. Discard any large chunks of fat as you go. Sprinkle with salt and white pepper and turn to coat.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add beef, in a single layer and allow to sear until browned on one side, 90 seconds to 2 minutes. Turn over with a spatula and let sear on the other side, 1 to 2 minutes. Transfer the beef, and any juices, to a plate and keep warm.
  • Add the remaining 1 tablespoon oil to the wok or skillet and swirl to coat the cooking surface. Add peppers, broccoli, garlic and ginger and cook, stirring constantly until the garlic starts to brown, about 1 ½ minutes. Add Chinese Five Spice and crushed red pepper and toss to coat. Add the remaining 1 cup broth, stir and cover. Cook, removing lid to stir occasionally, until the vegetabes are crisp-tender, 3 to 4 minutes.

  • Season the beef with sea salt and black pepper. Place the beef in a large bowl and toss with the coconut aminos, vinegar and arrowroot to evenly coat, then set aside.
  • For the sauce, in a medium bowl combine the coconut aminos, sesame oil , broth, vinegar and 2 teaspoons of arrowroot or tapioca flour. Whisk well to fully combine.
  • In a large nonstick skillet or wok, heat 2 Tbsp of the oil over medium-high heat. Cook the beef in two batches, browning for about a minute on each side. Remove the beef from the pan to a clean plate and set aside.
  • Adjust the heat to medium and add the remaining tablespoon of oil. Add the bell pepper, carrots, and snow peas to the hot pan. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are just getting tender, about 2-3 minutes. During the last 45 seconds or so, add in the garlic, ginger, and white part of the scallions and stir.

  • Slice beef into about ¼ inch thin. Marinate thin sliced beef with ingredients under “beef marinade”. Mix well. Place broccoli florets in a microwave safe container. Add 1-2 tbsp water. Loosely covered with a lid or wet paper towel and microwave for 2 mins. Cook until broccoli is tender but still crunchy. Set aside.
  • Heat a wok over medium heat w/ 1 ½ tbsp ghee. When hot, lower the heat to medium, add garlic and ginger. Season w/ a small pinch of salt & stir-fry until fragrant (about 10 secs).
  • Turn up the heat to medium-high, add marinated beef. Spread beef evenly over the bottom of the saute pan and cook until the edge of the beef is slightly darkened and crispy. Do the same thing for flip slide - about ¾ way cooked through with slightly charred and crispy surface.
  • Add “Sauce Combo”. Stir-fry about 1 min. Add broccoli. Stir-fry another 30 secs. Toss everything to combine.

  • Liberally season the sliced steak with salt and pepper. Heat a large sauté pan over medium heat and let it get hot. Add slices of beef, without overcrowding, and cook 30 seconds per side. Remove from pan and repeat with remaining beef (I had to do this in 3 batches).
  • Leave the beef juices in the pan and add chopped broccoli. Add about 2-3 tablespoons of the sauce and cover with a lid. Cook for 3-5 minutes until tender. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  • Add remaining sauce to the pan and bring to a simmer. Reduce to medium low and cook until thickened and coats the back of a spoon, about 3-4 minutes. Add back in beef and broccoli and stir to combine and heated through, about 1 minute. Be careful not to add the liquid from the beef and broccoli as it will thin the sauce. Serve with cauliflower or white rice, top with optional toppings, and enjoy!
