Steps:
- Heat oven to 375°F. In large bowl, beat granulated sugar, butter, vanilla and egg with spoon until smooth. Stir in flour.
- Shape dough into 1-inch balls. (If dough is too soft to shape, cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour.) Roll balls in colored sugars. On ungreased cookie sheet, place about 2 inches apart.
- With kitchen scissors or paring knife pointing down, snip each ball in half, cutting three-fourths of the way through dough; cut each half into 3 wedges for petals.
- Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until set. Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheet to cooling rack. Immediately press 1 candy into each cookie. Cool completely.

S'MORES BLOSSOM COOKIES
Toasted, gooey marshmallows found their way into your peanut butter-chocolate blossom cookies and life couldn't be any better. Enjoy these treats warm or at room temperature -- and be thankful you didn't have to build a campfire.

Steps:
- Position the oven racks in the top and bottom thirds of the oven and preheat to 350 degrees F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment.
- Beat the peanut butter, granulated sugar, light brown sugar and salt, in a large bowl, with an electric mixer on medium-high speed until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Beat in the vanilla and egg.
- Put some granulated sugar in a small bowl. Shape scant tablespoons of the dough into balls and roll each ball in the sugar to coat. Evenly space the balls on the prepared baking sheets. Press each ball down with the tines of a fork to flatten it slightly.
- Bake until the bottoms are golden brown, about 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and turn the broiler on.
- Top each cookie with a marshmallow, sticky-side-down, and put 1 baking sheet at a time under the broiler until lightly golden, about 30 seconds. While the marshmallow is still hot, press a chocolate candy into it. Repeat with the remaining baking sheet. Let the cookies cool for a few minutes on the baking sheets, then transfer to a rack to cool completely. The cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
WILTON COOKIE BLOSSOM SUGAR COOKIES
These are an easy sugar cookie to make because they require no refrigeration of the dough before rolling it out. Updated 11/2009 - after reading some of the reviews that said the dough was crumbly, I updated the ingredients to state that the unsalted butter should be softened to room temperature. I am hoping that solves the crumbly dough problem. I've never experienced that and I am thinking that is because I soften the butter before mixing. Hope that helps everyone.

NUTTY CRISPY SUGAR COOKIES
I worked with a woman that baked 80 dozen or more cookies during the holidays. Every day she brought 1/2 dozen of every cookie she'd baked the night before; this is my favorite. I sometimes roll the dough into balls and then roll them in some granulated sugar rather than making these as drop cookies. These freeze well.
