CINNAMON BREADSTICKS

I think this is the best sweet breadstick you'll find. I love to snack on these while drinking my morning coffee. Each twist has just 1 gram of fat and is quite satisfying. -Carol Birkemeier of Nashville, Indiana

Steps:

  • In a bowl, combine the contents of the roll mix and yeast packets. Add the water, oil and egg white; beat until smooth. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes., Roll into a 16-in. x 12-in. rectangle. Cut widthwise into sixteen 1-in. strips. Cut strips in half widthwise, forming 32 strips. Twist each strip 5-6 times; place on a baking sheet coated with cooking spray., Combine sugar and cinnamon. Spray dough sticks generously with refrigerated butter-flavored spray; sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 25 minutes. Bake at 375° for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.

Steps:

  • Wash potatoes, dry well, cut into 2 cm thick rounds.
  • Rub with combined oil and honey.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Place in a baking dish with cinnamon sticks.
  • Cook at 190 C for 20 minutes then remove from oven.
  • Arrange cinnamon sticks under potatoes, turning the slices to expose uncooked side.
  • Cook further 30 minutes till tender.
  • Serve on platter adorned with the cinnamon sticks.

Steps:

  • Set oven to 350°F.
  • Roll out the prepared pizza dough into a large rectangle.
  • Brush the melted butter over the dough.
  • In a small cup combine the sugar and cinnamon.
  • Sprinkle the cinnamon/sugar mixture liberally over the pizza dough.
  • Slice the dough into either long strips, or cut in half and then slice into small sticks (the small ones are easier to handle).
  • Place on a lightly greased baking sheet.
  • Bake for about 15 minutes or until done.
  • While the pizza sticks are baking, whisk the icing ingredients together until smooth, adding more icing sugar or whipping cream to achieve desired consistency.
  • Dip the pizza sticks in the icing.
