THERMOS TUNA A 'LA KING

Posted for "Back to School Photo Tag Lunchbox Special" When cooking with a thermos bottle, it is important to use a thermos that will hold heat the longest, and last the longest under heavy use and abuse. This recipe is based on a 1 Qt Stanley Food Thermos. The food thermos has a wide mouth lids with an insulated lid that doubles as a bowl. You made need to adjust the amounts to fit your thermos

Thermos Tuna a 'la King image

Steps:

  • Put dry milk, macaroni, salt, parsley, bouillon and boiling water into a 1 quart thermos that has been heated with additional boiling water. Stir, seal and tilt thermos for 15 minutes or until lunch time.
  • Open and add tuna, Stir and eat. For a creamier dish, use only 1 cup boiling water and heated juice from drained tuna.

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 450°F. In medium bowl, stir 2 1/4 cups Bisquick mix and the milk until soft dough forms. Drop by 6 spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Meanwhile, in 2-quart saucepan, mix remaining ingredients. Heat to boiling over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  • To serve, split biscuits in half; place on 6 individual plates. Spoon generous 1/4 cup hot chowder mixture over bottom of each biscuit. Top with remaining biscuit halves. Spoon 1/4 cup chowder mixture over top of each biscuit.

Steps:

  • In a 2 quart (2 litre) saucepan, combine all ingredients except sour cream.
  • Simmer 5 min, mixing well.
  • Add sour cream to mixture and heat through.
  • You can serve this over toast, plain waffles, noodles, rice, whatever you like.

1 (10 1/2 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
1 (6 1/2 ounce) can tuna, drained
1 (4 ounce) can mushroom pieces, drained
1 cup frozen peas
1 tablespoon chopped pimiento
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1 cup sour cream

Steps:

  • Melt butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Cook green pepper and mushrooms in butter, stirring occasionally, until pepper is crisp-tender.
  • Stir in flour, salt and pepper.
  • Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until bubbly; remove from heat.
  • Stir in milk and broth.
  • Heat to boiling, stirring constantly.
  • Boil and stir 1 minute.
  • Stir in tuna and pimientos; cook until hot.
  • Serve over rice.

1 small green bell pepper, chopped (1/2 c.)
1 cup sliced mushrooms (3 oz.)
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
