Steps:

  • In a 5-qt. slow cooker, combine all ingredients. Cover and cook on low for 2 hours or until cider reaches desired temperature. Discard cinnamon stick. If desired, remove fruit with a slotted spoon before serving.

Slow-Cooked Apple Cranberry Cider image

Steps:

  • Place cinnamon sticks and cloves on a double thickness of cheesecloth; bring up corners of cloth and tie with string to form a bag. , In a 5-qt. slow cooker, combine the cider, cranberry juice and brown sugar add spice bag. Cover and cook on high for 2 hours or until cider reaches desired temperature. Discard spice bag.

  • In 4-quart saucepan, mix all ingredients. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat; simmer uncovered 15 minutes. Strain.

Steps:

  • Combine the apple cider, sugar, cinnamon sticks, orange zest, and cloves in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil over high heat. Turn heat to low; simmer until sugar is dissolved and the flavors are blended, 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Stir cranberries into the saucepan, turn heat to high, and bring to a boil. Cook, stirring constantly, until cranberries begin to pop, 5 to 10 minutes.   • Add the juices to your slow cooker, along with the sliced orange, fresh cranberries, cinnamon sticks and mulling spices. Stir everything together well and turn your slow cooker to low. Let the cider simmer away in the slow cooker for about 4-5 hours.
  • After 4-5 hours, remove the orange slices, cranberries and cinnamon sticks with a sieve or slotted spoon and add the sliced apple, and the new fresh cranberries, sliced orange and cinnamon sticks (the old ones will have flavoured the cider beautifully but they'll look awful after simmering in the juice all day. Feel free to skip the garnishes if you're not worried about presentation!)
