- On four slices of bread, layer one slice of mozzarella, two slices of tomato, 1 teaspoon Parmesan cheese, a dash of garlic salt and six slices pepperoni. Top with remaining mozzarella and bread. Spread outside of sandwiches with butter., On a hot griddle, toast sandwiches until golden brown, 3-4 minutes on each side. Serve with pizza sauce.

PIZZA HERO (BAKED HOAGIE SANDWICH)
Used to eat these as a kid at a local pizza joint. Now I just make them myself.

- 1. crumble and brown italian sausage. drain and set aside.
- 2. slice hoagie rolls in half. spread the pizza sauce on both halves, then on bottom layer add pepperoni. now add a some sausage and mushrooms. add another layer of pepperoni and top with cheese. sprinkle cheese with a little italian seasoning add top half of bun and bake in a 350 degree preheated oven for about 15 mins. Until the cheese melts and bun is a little toasted.

- On a baking sheet coated with cooking spray, roll dough into a small rectangle. Let rest for 5-10 minutes. , In a small bowl, combine the butter and seasonings. Roll out dough into a 14x10-in. rectangle. Brush with half of the butter mixture. Layer ham, mozzarella cheese, turkey and cheddar cheese lengthwise over half of the dough to within 1/2 in. of edges. Fold dough over and pinch firmly to seal. Brush with remaining butter mixture., Bake at 400° for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Cut into 1-in. slices. Serve immediately with pizza sauce if desired.

All amounts may be increased or decreased to suit taste, and if possible purchase the submarine style sandwich buns that are about 9-inches long --- these are delicious!

- Slice 6 buns (or how many you desire, just increase the ingredients).
- On the bottom half of the buns, layer sausage, then ham, then pizza sauce, then cheese, then onion, then banana peppers (seaon the peppers with black pepper) then pepperoni and lastly the salami.
- Replace the tops.
- Wrap each bun in heavy-duty foil that has been sprayed well with non-stick cooking spray.
- Place on baking sheet.
- Bake at a 400 degree oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
- Serve immediately.
- **NOTE** banana peppers in a jar are usually found in the pickle section of any grocery store.
- Delicious!
BAKED PIZZA SANDWICH

- Heat the oven to 400 degrees F.
- Cook and stir the meat in a large skillet until brown.
- Drain off the excess fat.
- Stir in half of the tomato sauce and the oregano leaves into the meat mixture.
- Heat to boiling then reduce the heat and simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes.
- While the meat mixture is simmering, mix the baking mix, egg and the milk.
- Measure out 3/4 cup of the batter and set aside.
- Spread the remaining batter in a greased baking pan 9 X 9 X 2-inches.
- Pour into the remaining tomato sauce over the batter, spreading evenly.
- Layer 4 slices of the cheese, the meat mixture, the mushrooms and the remaining cheese on top of the batter and tomato sauce.
- Spoon the reserved batter on the top of the cheese.
- Sprinkle the batter top with the grated Parmesan cheese and bake, uncovered, until it is golden brown, 20 to 25 minutes.
- Cool for 5 minutes before cutting into squares and serving.
OPEN-FACED PIZZA BURGERS

- In a large skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat until the meat is no longer pink, 3-5 minutes, breaking into crumbles. Drain. Stir in the pizza sauce, mushrooms, sugar and oregano; mix well. Spoon onto buns; sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. , Place on ungreased baking sheets. Broil 4 in. from the heat until cheese is melted, 2 minutes. , To freeze for quick lunches later, place the split and toasted buns on a baking sheet.
