Cinnamon Apples image

Steps:

  • Combine the candies, brown sugar and 2 1/2 cups water in a large saucepan and place over medium-high heat. Cook, stirring, until the candies and sugar have fully melted, about 10 minutes.
  • Add the apples and bring to a boil. Cook until the apples are tender but not mushy, about 5 minutes. Remove the apples with a slotted spoon and transfer to a heatproof dish. Allow the syrup to boil for an additional 5 minutes to thicken and intensify. Pour the syrup over the apples and allow to cool. Transfer to the fridge and chill for at least 4 hours.
  • When ready to serve, warm a griddle over medium heat. Butter the griddle and toast the slices of pound cake for about 2 minutes per side, adding more butter as needed.
  • To plate, place a piece of pound cake on each plate. Top with a scoop of ice cream and 4 apple slices. Drizzle with additional syrup and garnish with the mint.

Warm Skillet Cinnamon Apples image

Steps:

  • Peel/core apples and cut into thick slices.
  • Toss together the apples, brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg either in a bowl or put in a zippered plastic bag and shake until coated.
  • Cook apple mixture, 2 tbls. of water and 1 tbls. of butter in a medium sized saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  • Cook for 8-10 minutes or until apples are tender - but not mushy.
  • Serve just as is or top with vanilla ice cream or whipped topping.

4 mcintosh apples (or another firm apple, about 2 lbs)

I drink only 1 kind of tea - *Apple and Cinnamon Twist Tea* by London Fruit & Herb Co. I add approx 6-8 cinnamon candies for ea cup I brew & did that for this recipe.   • Pour boiling water over Cinnamon Apple Herbal Tea bags, cover, brew 5 minutes & remove tea bags. Stir in sugar + cinnamon candies (if using) & allow to cool (Stir to completely dissolve candies, if using).

  • Place 2 thinly sliced apples and 4 cinnamon sticks in a pitcher. For still infused water, add 2 quarts of water. For sparkling water, add 1 quart of seltzer during prep and a second quart just before serving. Refrigerate 2 to 4 hours to allow the ingredients to infuse. Stir well and strain, discarding the solids. For serving, add fresh apples and cinnamon sticks for garnish and plenty of ice. The infused water will keep refrigerated for up to 2 days.

  • You will need 1 Reynolds Slow Cooker Liner.
  • Place liner inside a 3-6 1/2 quart slow cooker. Fit liner snugly against the bottom and sides of bowl; pull top of liner over rim of slow cooker.
  • Place apples in the lined slow cooker; drizzle with lemon juice.
  • Mix granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon and nutmedg in a medium bowl. Sprinkle mixture over apples; stir gently to coat apples. Drizzle with butter. Place lid on slow cooker.
