  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, combine cream, salt, pepper and, if desired, thyme. Arrange potatoes in a greased 13x9-in. baking dish. Pour cream mixture over top., Bake, uncovered, until potatoes are tender and top is lightly browned, 45-55 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before serving. If desired, sprinkle with parsley.

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F. Lightly grease an 18-by-13-inch sheet pan with the butter.
  • Bring the cream, garlic, thyme, 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper to a simmer in a small saucepan over medium heat, then turn off stove.
  • Thinly slice the potatoes on a mandoline or vegetable slicer (about 1/8-inch-thick rounds.) Arrange half the potato slices into a single, overlapping layer on the sheet pan, and sprinkle evenly with salt and half the grated Parmesan. Top with the remaining potato slices and sprinkle with salt. Drizzle the hot cream mixture evenly over the potatoes.
  • Cover the pan with foil and bake until the potatoes are tender when pierced with a paring knife, about 20 minutes. Carefully remove the foil and sprinkle the potatoes with Gruyere and the remaining Parmesan. Cook uncovered until very brown and crusty on top, rotating the pan halfway through, 15 to 20 minutes more.

  • Preheat oven to 400°F.
  • Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • In a small pan, melt butter.
  • Stir in the bread crumbs and saute briefly.

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  • In a saucepan, heat up the cream with the bay leaves, thyme, garlic, nutmeg and some salt and pepper.
  • While the cream is heating up, butter a casserole dish. Use a slotted spoon to remove the bay leaves and thyme. Pour the heated cream into a large bowl with the potato slices. Mix gently to coat the potatoes. Dust the Parmesan over the potatoes. Season the mix with a little bit of salt and pepper. Mix to gently incorporate. Spoon a little bit of the cream into the bottom of the casserole dish. Then spoon the potatoes in. Level out the potatoes for uniform cooking time.   • Let sit for a minute.

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6. Slice the peeled potatoes as finely as possible on a mandolin, with the fine slicing blade of a food processor, or with a very sharp knife. (The more finely you slice them, the quicker and more evenly they will cook.)
  • Pat the potatoes dry with a clean tea towel and tip into a large bowl. Pour over the melted butter, sprinkle over the thyme and some salt (preferably sea salt or rock salt), and toss until each slice is coated in butter.
  • In a roasting tin, measuring about 20 x 20cm, assemble the potato slices vertically, tightly packed together like a deck of cards, until the dish is full and you've used all the potatoes. Sprinkle with a little more salt and place in the oven for 45-50 mins until crisp and cooked. Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with Reynolds Wrap® Aluminum Foil. Set aside. The sheet will catch any spills in the oven later on.
  • Place the potato slices in a large pot and cover with cold water. Season with salt and bring to boil for 5 minutes. Drain in a colander and allow the potatoes to steam for 1 minute.
  • Rub a 10-inch baking dish with the garlic clove and generously butter the dish. Finely chop the garlic. Set aside.

  • Grease 13x9" casserole dish with reserved bacon grease.
  • In bowl wisk together the evaporated milk, sour cream, salt, pepper, horseradish, and garlic.
