PULL-APART BACON BREAD

I stumbled across this recipe while looking for something different to take to a brunch. Boy, am I glad I did! Everyone asked for the recipe and was surprised it called for only five ingredients. It's the perfect treat to bake for an informal get-together. -Traci Collins, Cheyenne, Wyoming

Pull-Apart Bacon Bread image

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook bacon over medium heat for 5 minutes or until partially cooked; drain on paper towels. Roll out dough to 1/2-in. thickness; brush with 1 tablespoon of oil. Cut into 1-in. pieces; place in a large bowl. Add the bacon, cheese, dressing mix and remaining oil; toss to coat., Arrange pieces in a 9x5-in. oval on a parchment-lined baking sheet, layering as needed. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 30 minutes or until doubled., Bake at 350° for 40 minutes. Cover with foil; bake 15 minutes longer or until golden brown.

Steps:

  • Proof yeast in warm water with honey.
  • Add rest of ingredients
  • Knead until smooth
  • Let rise until double.
  • Punch down and put in bread pan that has been greased with bacon grease.
  • Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes or until bread is browned.

Dee's I Did It Dynamic Bacon & Avocado Sandwich image

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat a griddle or large skillet to medium high heat. Combine and mix butter, mayo and truffles. Spread butter mixture on bread slices. Assemble your sammie: bread, cheese, peppers, avocado, bacon, remaining cheese and bread. Grill for 2 minutes or until gloden brown. Flip and grill for an additional 1 1/2 minutes or until golden brown and the cheese has melted.

4 slice sourdough bread
2 Tbsp unsalted butter, softened
4 Tbsp mayonnaise, olive oil
1/2 tsp black summer truffles, grated
8 slice bacon, cooked and crispy
4 slice jarlsberg cheese, sliced **swiss**
4 slice sharp cheddar cheese
1 large avocado sliced** squeeze some lemon juice and sprinkle with salt to prevent browning**
2 Tbsp roasted red pepper, slices
2 Tbsp jalapeno peppers, rings

  • 1. In a large skillet, cook bacon over medium heat for 5 minutes or until partially cooked; drain on paper towels. Roll out dough to 1/2-in. thickness; brush with 1 tablespoon of oil.   • 2. Arrange pieces in a 9-in. x 5-in. oval on a greased baking sheet, layering as needed... I actually just find it easier to use a bundt pan Cover and let rise in a warm place for 30 minutes or until doubled. Bake at 350° for 15 minutes. Cover with foil; bake 5-10 minutes longer or until golden brown. Yield: 1 loaf--16 servings.

DEE'S HEALTH BREAD

I found this recipe on allrecipe.com. I don't know who Dee is but I am grateful she came up with this recipe. My husband and FIL love it. My kids like it when I use it to make "mini" pizzas. Its full of fiber and you feel healthier eating it. Note: I have yet to mix all 4 cups of bread flour into the dough by hand. Also I put the dough into 4 loaf pans and they still come out great. I have put the dough in round casseroles dishes also.

Steps:

  • In a small bow, dissove the yeast and sugar in a 1/2 cup warm water.
  • In a large bowl, mix remaing 3 1/2 cups warm water, honey, molasses, oil, eggs, and lemon juice. Mix well.
  • Add yeast mixture and stir.
  • Gradually add 5 cups whole wheat flour, beating well after each addition.
  • Add the flax seed, cracked wheat and sunflower seeds. Stir well.
  • Let stand for 20 minutes, until mixture is very light. Stir in salt and the rest of the flours until dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
  • Knead 10 to 15 minutes until dough is smooth and elastic. Put into a greased bowl and cover. Let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until doubled.
  • Punch down and shape into 6 round balls. Cover and let rest for 20 minutes. Form in loaves and let rise covered until doubled. Bake at 375 degress for 25-35 minutes.

Discard drippings, reserving 2 tablespoons in pan., Add green onions to drippings; cook and stir over medium-high heat until tender, 1-2 minutes. Cool slightly., In a large bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and cayenne. In another bowl, whisk eggs, sour cream and melted butter until blended.
