STICKY CINNAMON FIGS

This is good in late summer, when figs are in season and it's still too hot for proper cooking. You can use almonds instead of pistachios. Serve with mascapone or thick, Greek yogurt. Easy and fast, from Delicious magazine.

Sticky Cinnamon Figs image

Steps:

  • Heat grill (broiler) to medium. Cut a deep cross in the top of each fig and ease apart like a flower.
  • Set figs in a baking dish and drop a small piece of butter in the centre of each fruit. Drizzle honey over figs, and sprinkle with nuts and cinnamon.
  • Grill 5 minutes until figs are softened and honey and butter make a sticky sauce.
  • Serve warm, with mascarpone or yogurt.

Steps:

  • Cut bacon strips in half widthwise. In a large skillet, cook bacon over medium heat until partially cooked but not crisp. Remove to paper towels to drain; keep warm., Cut a lengthwise slit down the center of each fig; fill with a pecan half. Wrap each with a piece of bacon., Grill, covered, over medium heat or broil 4 in. from the heat for 5-8 minutes or until bacon is crisp, turning once.

Steps:

  • Heat grill to medium high. Cut a deep cross in the top of each fig then ease the top apart like a flower. Sit the figs in a baking dish and drop a small piece of the butter into the centre of each fruit. Drizzle the honey over the figs, then sprinkle with the nuts and spice.
  • Grill for 5 mins until figs are softened and the honey and butter make a sticky sauce in the bottom of the dish. Serve warm, with dollops of mascarpone or yogurt.
