I remember going berry picking with Mom and Grandma. Even at 70 years old, Grandma could pick 3 gallons of berries before I had my pail half full. Grandma made up this blackberry cake recipe with her mom, and it's been passed down for five generations now. -Diana Martin, Moundsville, West Virginia

- Preheat oven to 350°. Toss blackberries with 1/4 cup flour; set aside. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, 5-7 minutes. Beat in eggs. Combine baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, cloves, allspice and remaining 1-3/4 cups flour; add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk, beating well after each addition. Fold in blackberries. , Pour into a greased and floured 9-in. square baking pan. Bake until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, 45-50 minutes. Cool on a wire rack. If desired, serve with whipped cream and top with confectioners' sugar and additional fresh blackberries.

GRANDMA NORN'S UNBELIEVABLE BLACKBERRY CAKE
This is the most wonderful cake you have put in your mouth. Another one of my Granma Norn's recipes that has been in our family for years. It is also one we rarely share, but I love this site so much and have gotten so many wonderful recipes, I decided to give you great cooks something you will truly enjoy and get many, many compliments from. Steps:
- In large bowl mix cake mix, eggs, oil and Jello on high speed with electric mixer about 2 minutes.
- Add berries; mix until blended well.
- Pour into greased and floured 9x13-inch pan.
- Bake at 350 until fork inserted in center comes out clean, about 40-45 minutes.
- Allow cake to cool completely.
- In bowl make icing by beating cream cheese and butter until smooth. Gradually add confectioners' sugar.
- Frost cake, chill and serve.

This is another Southern Living recipe that I haven't made in years. This makes a delicous cake by itself, but of course you could add a glaze if you would like.

- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Sift together the flour, sugar, salt, nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves in a large bowl.

FRESH PEACH AND BLUEBERRY UPSIDE-DOWN CAKE
Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and place a rack in the center of the oven. Grease the sides of a 9-by-3-inch round cake or bundt pan.
- Sprinkle the brown sugar in the pan and pour in the melted butter. Top with the peaches and blueberries and set aside.
- In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the sugar with the room temperature butter on medium speed until fluffy, then increase to high speed for 3 to 5 minutes. Turn off the mixer, add the cream cheese ,and then mix on medium speed.
- In a medium bowl, whisk to combine the flour, baking powder and salt.
- Turn the mixer off and add the eggs, then mix on low speed to beat in the eggs. Add the flour mixture slowly, then add the milk and vanilla extract and mix until combined. Spread the batter over the fruit and transfer to the oven.
- Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, 1 hour.
- Transfer the pan to a wire rack to cool for 5 minutes, then run a knife around the sides to loosen the cake and invert onto a plate. Let cool and serve.
BLACKBERRY SOUR CREAM COFFEE CAKE

- Combine the flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt in a small bowl and mix to combine. Add the butter and mix thoroughly with your fingers or a fork until all of the butter has been evenly distributed and incorporated into the flour. Form into small to medium clumps with your fingers.
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Butter an 8-inch square cake pan.
- Whisk the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt together in a medium bowl.
- Beat the butter and granulated sugar together in a large bowl with an electric mixer on medium-high speed until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Add the eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in the vanilla. Reduce the speed to low and add the flour mixture in 3 batches, alternating with the sour cream, beginning and ending with the flour, beating until just incorporated.
- Spoon half of the cake batter (it will be very thick) into the prepared pan and smooth with an offset spatula. Sprinkle the blackberries on top. Spoon the remaining cake batter on top and smooth the top. Sprinkle on the crumb topping.
- Bake until the cake and topping are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean, about 1 hour. Let cool in the pan 20 minutes, then invert onto a plate, re-invert onto a rack to cool completely.
FRESH BLACKBERRY CRISP

- Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In large bowl combine blackberries, sugar and lemon juice together with 2 tablespoons of flour. Pour into deep dish pie plate. In separate bowl blend remaining 1/2 cup flour, brown sugar and butter. Mix until crumbly. Sprinkle over berries. Bake for 30 minutes until bubbly.
BLACKBERRY CORNBREAD CAKE

- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 10-inch ovenproof skillet with the butter.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, vanilla bean paste and eggs. In a separate medium bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, maple sugar, baking soda and salt. Stir in the buttermilk mixture until smooth.

You dump everything into the bottom of a casserole dish, throw 'er in the oven and waa laa!! You have a heavenly dessert, a little lovin' from the oven.

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- 2 Mix your berries, sugar and cinnamon together and spread in the bottom of a 9×13 pan.
- 3 Sprinkle dry cake mix and rolled oats over the top of berry mixture.

- Heat oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4. Tip the flour, oats and sugar into a large bowl. Rub the butter into the flour mixture using your fingertips until only small pea-size pieces remain. Stir through the coconut, then fill a teacup with the mixture and set this aside.
- Stir the eggs into the bowl of mixture, then spread over the bottom of a lined baking tin (31 x 17cm), or a 21cm square tin. Smooth the surface with the back of a spoon, then scatter over the blackberries. Scatter over the reserved teacup mixture and bake for 1 hr-1 hr 15 mins until golden and cooked through (if you poke a skewer in, it should come out with moist crumbs but no wet mixture).
