GRANDMA DELLEPLAIN HONEY TWIST
This is a a breakfast treat, it takes a little time, but worth the wate. You could always make it your own by changing the honey topping to cinnamon , raisins, sugar topping. In my Grandma's time honey twist was a unexpected treat.

Steps:
- 1. Crumble yeast in a bowl with lukewarm water to soften.
- 2. Pour scalded milk over shortening, sugar,and salt. Cool milk mixture to luckwarm , add yeast and eggs. Beat in flour to make a soft dough.
- 3. Turn out onto a floured board and knead until smooth. Place in a large greased bowl cover, and let stand to rise until double in size.
- 4. When light shape into a long roll about 1 " in diameter. Coil the roll into a greased cake pan begining at the outside edge and working into the center to cover the pan.
- 5. Brush with honey topping and let stand to rise until doubled in size. Bake at 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes. It makes one large twist
CINNAMON TWISTS WITH CARDAMOM-HONEY DIPPING SAUCE

Steps:
- For the cinnamon twists:
- Place an oven rack in the center of the oven. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
- In a shallow bowl, mix together the cinnamon, sesame seeds, cardamom, and brown sugar. Twist 2 pieces of dough together to form a rope-shape. Pinch the ends together to seal. Brush the dough with the beaten egg and roll gently in the cinnamon mixture until coated. Place on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining dough. Bake for 12 to 14 minutes until puffed and golden. Cool on a wire rack.
- For the sauce:
- In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, lemon juice, powdered sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1/2 teaspoon cardamom until smooth. Pour into a small dipping bowl.
- Arrange the pastries on a platter and serve with the dipping sauce.
GRANDMA DELLEPLAIN BUTTER FROSTING
This is one of my Grandmothers recipes that can be changed to a lemon, or pineapple, or orange frosting by just a few simple changes.

Steps:
- Soften butter to room temp, and cream in remaining ingredients and continue creaming until mixture is well blended and fluffey.
- This will cover the top and sides of two ( 8" ) layer cakes.
- For LEMON FROSTING : add 1/2 teaspoon graded lemon rind and use lemon juice instead of vanilla.
- For PINEALLLE FROSTING : use 1/3 cup crushed pineapple with juice instead of cream.
- For ORANGR FROSTING : add 1 tablespoon grated orange rind and use orange juice instead of cream.

- In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water. Add 2 cups of flour, sugar, salt, milk, butter, egg and remaining water; beat on medium speed 3 minutes. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough. , Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour. , Punch down dough. Roll into a 16x12-in. rectangle. Brush with butter. Combine brown sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over butter. Let dough rest for 6 minutes. Cut lengthwise into three 16x4-in. strips. Cut each strip into sixteen 4x1-in. pieces. Twist and place on greased baking sheets. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 30 minutes. , Bake at 350° 15 minutes or until golden.

GRANDMA DELLEPLAIN APRICOT FILLING
This is a filling for a three layer cake. In grandmas time she had to use what was at hand, so fruit came off the farm, it was cooked and canned, and used as needed.

Steps:
- Peel and seed the apricots and cook in just enough water to cover until tender and practically dry. Beat apricots until smooth.
- Add sugar, lemon juice and grated lemon rind and cook until sugar has entirely dissolved. Let cool this will make enough filling for a 3-layer cake.
GRANDMA DELLEPLAIN YEAST ROLLS
This is another of my Grandmas's recipes. Home made bread was a must in the 40's, we lived on a farm and only went to town once a month.

- Soften yeast in lukewarm water,
- Add shortening, sugar, and salt to milk. Cool milk to luckwarm and add yeast and beaten egg.
- Stir in flour to make a soft dough, turn out onto a floured board and knead until smooth ( about 8-10 minutes )
- Shape into rolls. Let stand until double in size bake at 425 for 12-15 minutes.
GRANDMA DELLEPLAIN FUDGE ICING
Another on of grandma's recipes. This recipe is more than 60 years old and has been tryed and true.

- Cook sugar, and corn syrup and chocolate squares and milk on low to midume heat (232 degrees ) or until a small amount of syrup forms a very soft ball when dropped into cold water.
- Remove from heat, add vanilla and butter. Cool to lukewarm without stirring.
- Beat until creamy and thick enough to spread. This will cover two ( 8" ) layers top and sides.
GREAT GRANDMA'S HONEY DROP COOKIES
I can remember Grandma always making these delicious cookies. They are sweet with the taste of honey.

- Cream shortening, sugar, and eggs.
- Add honey and extract, mix well.
- Add baking soda and one third of the flour.
- Mix well then add another third of flour and mix well.
- Add last third of flour and mix well.
- Add the nuts and mix.
- Grease cookie sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes in a preheated 350 degree oven.
- Cool slightly before removing cookies from cookie sheet. ENJOY!

GRANDMA DELLEPLAIN BEAN SOUP
My family came from Southern Ill. In the winter it's very cold and snowey. My Grandma would warm the family up from the inside out, cooking hot soups like bean soups would keep you warm and full. Add a little southern cornbread and you have a great meal.

Steps:
- Soak beans in a large pot with water to cover over night.
- Drain beans and add with enough water to cover the beans, add salt and ham bone and cook until beans are almost tender.
- Add the remaining ingredents and cook until ham is falling off the bone. Serve hot.
