HASSELBACK AIR FRYER POTATOES

Air-fried hasselback potatoes are so easy yet they make such a pretty presentation. I serve these with a simple garlic aioli, but feel free to add a dollop of sour cream or topping of your choice.

Hasselback Air Fryer Potatoes image

Steps:

  • Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).
  • Cut a very thin slice lengthwise from the flattest side of 1 potato. Lay potato on a cutting board, cut-side down so it lays evenly without rolling. Place chopsticks lengthwise along top and bottom edges of potato. Slice evenly across entire length of potato to make 1/4-inch slices, making sure the knife comes to rest on chopsticks each time, keeping the bottom of the potato intact. Repeat with remaining potatoes. Brush the outsides and between the slices with oil. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  • Place potatoes into the bowl of the air fryer and cook for 15 minutes. Brush with oil and cook until crispy on the edges and tender in the middles, about 15 minutes more. Sprinkle with chives and serve.

Hasselback potatoes were created at the Hotel Hasselbacken in Stockholm, Sweden in the 1940's, and they're still a popular side dish today. Not only are they delicious, and easy to make with lovely presentation, they take half the time to cook in an air fryer.

Air Fryer Hasselback Potatoes image

Steps:

  • Preheat an air fryer to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Slice evenly across entire length of each potato to make 1/4-inch or 1/2-inch slices, making sure the knife only cuts through to the bottom 1/2-inch, keeping the bottom of the potato intact.
  • Combine butter, olive oil, garlic, and paprika in a small bowl. Brush some of the mixture over each potato and into the slits. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Place potatoes in the air fryer basket and cook for 15 minutes. Brushing the potatoes again with butter mixture, making sure to get it down into the fanned out slices, to ensure the potatoes will not be dry. Cook until potatoes are cooked through, about 15 minutes more.
  • Remove potatoes from the basket and brush with any remaining butter mixture. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve immediately.

Steps:

  • Depending on your preference, either peel the potatoes or leave the skins on. If using large potatoes, cut in half. Cut slits along the potatoes about 5mm apart and 6mm from the base of the potato.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 355 degrees (180 Celsius). Cook for 15-20 minutes.
  • Gently brush the potatoes with olive oil and oil and continue to cook for another 15-20 minutes or until they are cooked through.
