HEINZ 57® COPYCAT

Someone left the bottle empty in the fridge (well, just a few drops is the same as empty). I had just enough to copy it, then when I brought a sample to my unsuspecting taste-tester, he liked mine better than the original! I washed my Heinz 57® bottle, multiplied this recipe to fill 'er up, and haven't bought another name brand since. Hope you like it!

Steps:

  • Heat grill to medium heat.
  • Grill steak 4 to 5 min. on each side or until medium doneness (160°F), brushing with HEINZ 57 Sauce for the last few minutes. Transfer to cutting board; let stand 5 min.
  • Meanwhile, toss lettuce with tomatoes and carrots in large bowl.
  • Cut steak across the grain into thin slices; place over salad. Drizzle with dressing just before serving.

Steps:

  • Blend the raisin with 1/2 cup of water in a food processor or blender for 1 minute or until smooth. Measure 1/4 cup of this puree into a medium saucepan. Add the remaining ingredients and whisk until smooth. Bring mixture to a thorough boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer, uncovered for 1/2 hour or until thick. Let sauce cool and then refrigerate it in a covered container for at least 24 hours.
