HERBED CHEESE PINWHEELS

This is a savoury version of elephant ears. I came up with it when I wanted to bake a simple yet tasty appetiser for my family. The herbs and cheese can be varied to your liking. I hope you enjoy them as much as we do! :) The dough was inspired by this recipe: Recipe #40835

Herbed Cheese Pinwheels image

Steps:

  • In a bowl combine flour, baking powder, salt, herbs and chili powder.
  • In another bowl combine milk and 2 tbs of oil. Add to the dry ingredients and mix into a dough. If it is too dry add the 3rd tbs of oil.
  • Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and knead into a soft dough.
  • Either pat it down into a rectangle or roll it out. It should be about 1 cm/0.5 inches thick.
  • Spread with the cheese and roll up starting on the longer end.
  • Slice into 10 slices and place on a paper-lined baking sheet. Pat down gently.
  • Bake in the preheated oven at 200°C/400°F for about 15 minutes.

Ham and Cheese Pinwheels image

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, garlic, and Italian seasoning.
  • Roll out the pizza dough onto a cutting board. Brush the entire surface with the seasoned olive oil. Top with 1 cup of shredded cheese, an even layer of ham, and then the remaining 1/2 cup cheese
  • Starting from the bottom edge, tightly roll up the dough to form a log. Using a sharp serrated knife, slice the roll in half and then each half into 6 pieces. Place the rolls on their side on a nonstick or lightly oiled baking sheet.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the egg with 2 tablespoons water. Brush the tops and sides of the rolls with egg wash. Bake until golden brown, 20 to 25 minutes.

  • Heat oven to 425°F. Grease cookie sheet. Mix Bisquick, Italian seasoning, garlic powder and water until dough forms. Turn dough onto surface dusted with Bisquick; gently roll in Bisquick to coat. Knead 10 times.
  • Roll dough into 18x10-inch rectange. Brush with melted butter. Sprinkle with cheeses. Tightly roll up dough; pinch edge to seal. Cut roll into eighteen 1-inch slices. Place on cookie sheet.
  • Bake 11 to 13 minutes or until golden. Heat pizza sauce until hot. Dip pinwheels into sauce.

Steps:

  • Mix cream cheese and jalapenos with a fork in a medium bowl until blended. Add spinach and mix again. Season mixture with salt and pepper.
  • Roll puff pastry out onto your work surface. Spread cream cheese mixture over pastry until evenly distributed. Sprinkle Cheddar cheese evenly on top.
  • Roll puff pastry into a log, pressing seams to seal. Wrap in plastic wrap and freeze for 20 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Grease a baking sheet.
  • Unwrap and slice log into 1/4-inch rounds. Place rounds onto the baking sheet.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400.
  • Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • In mixer cut in butter.
  • With mixer on, slowly add buttermilk until dough forms.
  • On a floured surface need dough until smooth.
  • Roll out into a rectangular form until it is about 1/4 an inch thick.
  • In a medium sized bowl, mix together sausage, syrup, and mustard.
  • Spread sausage mixture over dough.
  • Sprinkle cheese over sausage mixture.
  • Roll dough into a log.
