The original version of this recipe coms from Men's Health's Abs Diet. We've modified it to suit our tastes and to accomodate dairy allergies.

Keep It off Stroganoff (Modified) image

Steps:

  • Brown turkey and onion in a large nonstick skillet.
  • Add the flour and stir until turkey is coated.
  • Add broth, mustard, paprika and sour cream. Stir until sauce is creamy.
  • Serve over egg noodles.

1 lb ground turkey
1 medium onion, sliced
2 1/2 tablespoons flour
1 cup sliced mushrooms
1 (14 1/2 ounce) can chicken broth
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon paprika
1 cup vegan sour cream
4 cups cooked egg noodles

Chicken Stroganoff image

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the mushrooms and cook, stirring occasionally, until golden brown, 5 to 7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  • Season the chicken with salt and pepper. Return the skillet to the stove, add the olive oil and increase the heat to medium high. Add the chicken, working in batches if necessary, and cook until it begins to brown on each side, about 5 minutes. Add the onions and cook until tender, 3 to 4 minutes. Stir in the flour and cook for an additional 2 minutes. Stir in the broth, scraping up any browned bits with a wooden spoon. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, soup mix and cooked mushrooms. Reduce the heat to low and simmer until the broth is thickened to a gravy, about 7 minutes. Stir in the sour cream.
  • Serve over egg noodles with a dollop of sour cream and garnish with fresh chives.

1/3 cup sour cream, plus more for serving

3 tablespoons minced fresh chives

My husband LOVES stroganoff but he needs to stay fit for work. He got this recipe from the abs diet. If you do the abs diet as well, or just looking for a healthier version of stroganoff this is a good one! Hope you enjoy as much as he does!

Steps:

  • Brown the beef and onion in a large nonstick skillet.
  • Add the flour to the skillet and stir the beef until coated.
  • Add the mushrooms, broth, mustard, paprika, and sour cream to the mixture, stirring constantly until the sauce develops a creamy consistency.
  • Serve over noodles.
