PENNSYLVANIA GRANGE BANANA NUT BREAD - GRANGE # 1751
This is a very old recipe from a very old and wonderful Grange Cookbook from some of the best cooks and bakers in Pennsylvania. My Grandmother was a fantastic baker, but I like this recipe even more than hers----sorry Grandma... The buttermilk adds such richness. My family loves this toasted for breakfast.

Steps:
- Cream sugar and shortening.
- Add eggs one at a time and then add the mashed bananas and vanilla.
- Add dry ingredients alternately with the buttermilk and chopped nuts.
- Put batter in 2 greased and floured 9x5 inch loaf pans and bake at 350 degrees for 45 - 50 min., or until a wooden toothpick comes out clean when inserted.
- Cool for 10 min., then remove from pans.
- Slice when cold.
- Keeps moist when tightly wrapped.
- Freezes well.
- Delicious toasted!

GRANDMAS' BANANA NUT BREAD
This is my one of my grandmothers recipes for banana nut bread, it is easy and it is moist and delicious!

Steps:
- Sift flour, baking powder, salt and sugar together in a bowl.
- Add eggs, Crisco and 1 cup of the ripened, mashed bananas.
- Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for 2 minutes.
- Add remaining bananas and lemon juice.
- Beat 2 more minutes.
- Fold in nuts.
- Pour into a loaf pan sprayed with non stick cooking spray.
- Bake at 350 degrees for about 1 hour or until knife comes out clean.
GREAT GRANNY'S BANANA BREAD
This is hands down my favorite banana bread recipe and I'm posting it here for safe keeping. I got the recipe off the Cooking Light website and they give credit to Kathleen Daeleman and her book "Cooking Thin With Chef Kathleen". This bread isn't too sweet and I love the texture. If your using a darker baking pan, check the bread at about 1 hour.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350°F Grease and flour a 9x5 inch pan.
- Sift together flour, baking powder, and baking soda.
- In a separate bowl cream butter, sugar, then add mashed bananas.
- Add eggs one at a time, then add sour cream or yogurt, lemon juice, salt, and nuts.
- Add to dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Bake approximately 1 hours 20 minutes Start checking with a toothpick at about 1 hour.

GRANDMA BETTY'S BEST BANANANUT BREAD
This is the best banana bread I have ever eaten. Hands Down. Recipe originally from my grandmother who is over 70 years old.

Steps:
- Mix together butter, sugar, eggs, and bananas.
- Add the rest of the ingredients and blend.
- Spray a 9x5 inch pan with oil spray.
- Add mix to pan and bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
- After removing from oven, allow to cool for 5 minutes then let finish cooling on a cooling rack.
