CHEESE AND SAUSAGE APPETIZERS

I got this recipe from a home economics instructor when I was teaching in Oklahoma. I think it represents the Southwest because of its spicy flavor. It can be used as an appetizer before a Mexican meal or served as a snack.

Cheese and Sausage Appetizers image

Steps:

  • In large bowl, beat the cheese, butter, flour, salt and pepper on medium-low speed. Stir in cooked sausage. Form dough into 1-in. balls; place on ungreased baking sheet. , Bake at 400° for 15-20 minutes or until light golden brown. Serve warm or cold. Store in refrigerator or freezer.

8 ounces pork sausage, cooked and drained

SAUSAGE & CHEESE APPETIZER BALLS

Total hit for any dinner party, appetizer, or game day. These are always a crowd pleaser. Heck, you could even freeze a dozen or so and used them as meatballs in a pinch over pasta or on sandwiches. Serve these with a side of BBQ sauce, Honey Mustard or Ranch Dressing, or Marinara Sauce.

Sausage & Cheese Appetizer Balls image

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350ºF. Line cookie sheet with parchment paper (or spray baking sheet with cooking spray if you don't have parchment paper.).
  • Combine all ingredients & shape mixture into 1-inch balls. Place on cookie sheet.
  • Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until brown.
  • Serve immediately while warm with sauces or dressing for dipping if desired.

3 cups Bisquick
1 lb bulk pork sausage
4 cups cheddar cheese (shredded cheddar)
1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated
1/2 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon parsley flakes

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400°. In a large skillet, cook sausage over medium heat until no longer pink, 5-7 minutes, breaking into crumbles; drain. , In a large bowl, combine biscuit mix and cheese; stir in sausage. Add water and toss with a fork until moistened. Shape into 1-1/2-in. balls. Place 2 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets. , Bake until puffed and golden brown, 12-15 minutes. Cool on wire racks.

Won Ton Wrapper Appetizers image

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spray a miniature muffin pan with cooking spray.
  • Insert wonton wrappers into the muffin pan so as to form small cups. Bake 5 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow the baked wrappers to cool. Remove from the pan.
  • In a medium bowl, mix the sausage, Monterey Jack, Cheddar, black olives and Ranch-style dressing. Fill the baked wonton wrapper cups with the mixture.
  • Bake the filled wonton wrappers 10 to 15 minutes, until the sausage mixture is bubbly and slightly brown. Watch closely so the wonton wrappers do not burn.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Shred cheese.
  • Let cheese and sausage come to room temperature. You can rush this step in the microwave but take care not to melt the cheese or cook the sausage.
  • Combine ingredients in a bowl. This is easiest done adding ingredients a third at a time and mixing with your hands. If you notice the mixture getting too crumbly and not sticking together, reduce the amount of all purpose baking mix when adding the last third.
  • Form into balls about a quarter size in diameter. If they are larger this is fine, they will just need to cook longer.
  • Place as many balls as possible on an ungreased cookie sheet leaving just enough space between so they are not touching.
  • Bake in a 400 degree oven for 15 minutes. Adjust cooking time as necessary for the size of the balls formed.
  • Great served warm or at room temperature. They reheat great in the microwave.
