Pan Grilled Shrimp with Sumac Sauce image

Steps:

  • Sprinkle the shrimp with salt and pepper. Place a grill pan over medium heat and heat the oil. When the oil is hot, par cook the shrimp by placing them in a single layer across the grill slats and cook for 1 1/2 minutes. Flip and cook for 30 to 45 seconds. The shrimp will start to turn pinkish white. Take them out of the pan before the tails curls. Place them aside and cook the rest. Add more coconut oil as needed.
  • In the same pan, add a little more coconut oil and grill the whites of the spring onions until golden brown on both sides, 1 to 2 minutes total. Remove from the pan and allow to cool prior to cutting into bite-size pieces. Deglaze the pan by adding the stock and stirring to pick up any browned bits in the pan. Whisk in the butter. Once completely melted, add the sumac and red pepper flakes, and simmer until it reduces by a third, about 3 minutes. Add the shrimp back into the pan along with the sliced spring onion greens and the grilled spring onion pieces. Toss to coat and allow the shrimp to warm through, but do not overcook!

1 1/2 pounds shrimp (size 16 to 20), peeled and deveined
Salt and pepper
2 tablespoons coconut oil, plus more
3 stalks spring onions or scallions, green tops thinly sliced and bottom white half sliced in half lengthwise
4 ounces chicken or seafood stock
4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) cold unsalted butter
2 teaspoons sumac
1/8 teaspoon red pepper flakes

7 BEST SHRIMP FOODS TO FEED YOUR FRESHWATER AQUARIUM …

From aquariumcoop.com
Published 2021-02-01
  • Hikari Shrimp Cuisine. Hikari is a long-lived company known for its excellent, delicious fish foods in the aquarium hobby, and their Shrimp Cuisine is no different.
  • Xtreme Shrimpee Sinking Sticks. While most shrimp foods dissolve quickly into tiny particles to make sure the babies can get a bite, all the excess nutrients floating around in the aquarium can lead to cloudiness and dangerous water quality issues if you’re not careful.
  • Sera Shrimp Natural Sinking Granules. In the aquarium hobby, we often try to simulate an aquatic animal’s original environment and diet as closely as possible.
  • Fluval Bug Bites Shrimp Formula. The proteins in shrimp and fish food usually come from fish and crustaceans, but don’t forget that insects are also a naturally occurring part of a shrimp’s diet.
  • Repashy Gel Food. As tiny scavengers with tiny stomachs, shrimp prefer to constantly graze all throughout the day. That’s why Repashy gel food makes it onto our list.
  • Zoo Med Nano Banquet Food Blocks. Vacation food blocks are usually thought of as a specialty fish food you only feed if you’re going out of town for a while and don’t want to hire a pet sitter.
  • Vegetables. Canned or blanched vegetables are a readily available food that helps increase the plant content in your shrimp’s diet. One of their favorites is canned green beans because of the nutritious content, soft texture, and ability to sink immediately.

  • Bacon Wrapped Shrimp. Shrimp has such a lovely, lightly sweet flavor, and the meaty texture makes them super satisfying in any form. They also look fantastic when they’re beautiful and pink, and you can see that little tail on the end.
  • Avocado Cucumber Shrimp Appetizers. Perfectly seasoned shrimp with guacamole and crunchy cucumbers will quickly become your new favorite appetizer. Using cucumber as a base is such a clever way to add texture without making these super high in calories.
  • Shrimp Dip. This recipe calls for canned tiny shrimp, which usually come in 4-ounce cans. However, I’ve had some hit-or-miss experiences using canned shrimp.
  • Shrimp Surprise Spread. If you like shrimp cocktail, you’ll love this quick and easy shrimp dip. Not only does it include a dreamy layer of cream cheese, sour cream, and mayo, but it also includes your favorite cocktail sauce for a lovely tangy flavor.
  • Easy Shrimp Cocktail. Did you know you can make a last-minute cocktail sauce with just ketchup, lemon juice, and horseradish? It won’t be as bold and the flavor will be pretty tangy, but it’s a terrific little trick when you’re running behind.
  • Shrimp Taco Bites with Cilantro Cream Sauce. These taste just like mini-shrimp tacos, and if you’ve ever tried a shrimp taco, you’ll understand the need to double the batch.
  • Margarita Grilled Shrimp Skewers. Since shrimp are so light and fresh, it doesn’t take a lot to boost their flavor. You won’t want to overdo it with sauces or seasonings that can overpower the meat’s sweetness.
  • Shrimp and Cream Cheese Firecrackers. These shrimp parcels are pretty perfect for serving as appetizers. Not only are they bursting with flavor and great texture, but they’re self-contained and super easy to serve up on a platter.
  • Shrimp Scampi Dip. This hot and cheesy dip will be a total crowd-pleaser at your next party. It’s salty, gooey, and great with crackers, crostini, or even grilled jumbo shrimp if you want extra flavor.
  • Air Fryer Frozen Shrimp. If you’re still on the fence about whether or not to buy an air fryer, just keep in mind that you can make this terrific crunchy “fried” shrimp in just 10 minutes.
