Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Fill an 11x12-inch pan with dried bread cubes and sprinkle with raisins.
- Combine milk, eggs, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt in a bowl. Beat with an electric mixer until smooth. Pour milk-egg mixture over bread cubes and raisins.
- Bake in the preheated oven until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean, 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

RUM RAISIN BREAD PUDDING

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- In a large saucepan, add milk, butter, vanilla, cinnamon, brown sugar, rum and raisins and heat until warm. Simmer and stir until sugar dissolves.
- Into a large bowl add the cubed bread and pour in the hot milk mixture. Let sit for 30 minutes so the bread absorbs the milk.
- Add the beaten eggs to the bread and milk mixture and stir. Pour bread pudding into a buttered 1 1/2-quart baking dish and bake for 50 minutes.
BREAD PUDDING WITH SOUTHERN BOURBON SAUCE
Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Place stale bread in a bowl with milk and squeeze the bread with your hand until well saturated with milk.
- With an electric mixer on high speed in a separate bowl, beat eggs with sugar until thick and pale. Stir in the vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, butter and raisins to the egg mixture. Add the soaked bread crumbs to the egg mixture and stir well. Let stand for 10 minutes. It is important to allow enough time for the bread to absorb the egg mixture or the bread crumbs will float to the top during baking, leaving a layer of custard on the bottom of the dish.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish. Bake until firm, or until a knife inserted in the middle comes out clean, about 45 to 50 minutes. Let it slightly cool in the dish.
- Meanwhile, near the end of the baking time, make the sauce. With an electric mixer, beat egg yolks until thick and pale. In a saucepan, melt the butter and sugar. Pour the butter and sugar mixture over the egg yolks, beating constantly with the mixer, until well thickened. Stir in bourbon by hand. Serve the pudding warm with vanilla ice cream if desired. Pass the hot bourbon sauce separately.

- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Butter a 9-inch square baking dish.
- Spread half of the bread in the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Top with raisins, cinnamon, nutmeg, and remaining bread. Sprinkle with more cinnamon and nutmeg and drizzle with melted butter.
- Combine half-and-half, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt in a large bowl until well mixed and pour over bread. Press down on the bread with a fork to make sure it is saturated with the custard.
- Place the baking dish in a large pan of boiling water and bake in the preheated oven until the center is set, about 1 hour.

I used to teach in a cooking school, and this was one of the most popular recipes. We often made bread pudding to serve as the final touch to a meal. I've added a few variations over the years, and my family loves it.

- Preheat oven to 350°. Place raisins in a small bowl; pour water over. Let stand for about 10 minutes to soften; drain. In a bowl, beat eggs. Add milk, 2/3 cup sugar, vanilla and raisins. Pour half into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish. Butter both sides of bread; arrange in a single layer over egg mixture. Cover with remaining egg mixture. Combine cinnamon with remaining sugar; sprinkle on top. Bake for 30 minutes or until a knife inserted in center comes out clean. , Meanwhile, for sauce, melt butter in a saucepan. Add sugar; cook and stir over medium heat for 10 minutes. Remove from the heat and gradually stir in cream. Return to the heat; cook and stir 8-10 minutes longer or until thickened and golden-colored. Serve warm over a slice of bread pudding.

EASY SOUTHERN BREAD PUDDING
I got the recipe from all different sources and combined them. My Grandma's family is from the south so that where she got it from (and we all know that there's no food like southern cooking, lol !!!) I am also do research on cajun/creole food and this came up as a recipe that they use, so I hope that you enjoy!

- Melt butter (set aside).
- Cut the slices of bread into cubes (set aside.
- Beat eggs and add the brown sugar, vanilla extract, 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon, and evaporated milk (MIX WELL TOGETHER).
- Lightly grease or butter aluminum pan or casserole baking dish.

- In a large bowl, beat eggs on high speed until frothy. Add milk and sugar and continue beating. Add vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon and melted butter and beat again. Gently fold in bread cubes, raisins and pecans. Pour mixture into a sprayed 9-inch square pan. Cover and refrigerate for 40- 60 minutes.
