SPICE ESSENTIALS: ADOBO SEASONING MIX

Do not confuse this with adobo sauce; this is a dry spice seasoning. Use it as a dry rub on chicken, pork, or fish to add an additional depth of flavor. So, you ready... Let's get into the kitchen.

Spice Essentials: Adobo Seasoning Mix image

Steps:

  • 1. PREP/PREPARE
  • 2. Gather your Ingredients (mise en place).
  • 3. Add all the ingredients together.
  • 4. Use a spice grinder, or small prep grinder, to mix all the ingredients together.
  • 5. Store in a jar with a tight seal, and store in a cool space, until needed.
  • 6. PLATE/PRESENT
  • 7. This is a versatile, seasoning... Rub it on skin-on chicken thighs or breasts, or use it on some porkchops, and braise, or oven bake. It is even good as a rub on fish. Perfect for just about any dry-marinating situation. Enjoy.
  • 8. Keep the faith, and keep cooking.

2 Tbsp garlic powder
2 Tbsp salt, kosher variety, fine grind
2 tsp white pepper, freshly ground
2 tsp dried lemon peel
1 Tbsp greek oregano
1 Tbsp chili powder
1 tsp paprika

  • In a bowl, stir together the salt, paprika, black pepper, onion powder, oregano, cumin, garlic powder, and chili powder. Store in a sealed jar in a cool, dry place.

This seasoning is a staple to have in a Puerto Rican kitchen, but sometimes hard to find where I live. So I started making my own and it's good! Great seasoning for just about anything; my boys love to shake it on fries. Enjoy!
